That’s not irony. Irony is (as in the O’Henry story) when “A” sells his heirloom pocket watch to buy combs for “B“‘s beautiful hair, while at the same time “B” cuts and sells her hair to buy a fob for “A“‘s pocket watch.
This is merely a humorous coincidence.
