Back in the day when I was installing home microwave antennas, my boss would frequently beep me while I was up a ladder, on a roof, whatever. Then I’d have to come down and ask to use the customer’s phone to call the office (no cells then), only to be queried as to what I was doing (“my JOB!” was my unspoken thought). We always called in after completing a job, so the beepers were just an annoyance. So, it didn’t take long for me to start leaving the beeper in the service truck, then calling it late at night so by morning the battery was drained.“Ooops! No workee! What do you mean you don’t have a spare? Oh, well. Guess I’ll just have to go out without one…”
My favorite cat books are the Joe Grey mysteries by Shirley Rouseau Murphy. The cats talk as in Get Fuzzy but only to certain humans. They’re really fun.
MayKitten, I’m almost all the way through the Mrs. Murphy books here. Tucker the corgi is my favorite character. Our Mrs. Murphy clone is cleverly named Tiger IV, she’s 11 now.
Catmom, I will have to look for the Joe Grey books, Thanks for the tip.

You can’t get down off a lamp….everybody knows you get down off a duck.
OK OK…I would apologise but you all know somebody was going to say it…and I got here first!

Is this a repeat strip from 1987 or does Rob really still carry a beeper?

Yum Yum had a cat fit early this morning, looked more like a Himalayan than a Siamese for about 5 minutes or so.

A beeper? Really? I expect the legacy strips that get slagged by the Comics Curmudgeon to be that tech illiterate, but not Fuzzy

Pagers are still state of the art for both my doctor wife and my software engineer brother when they are on call for their respective jobs.

Exactly where on his butt would Satchel keep a beeper? Or do I want to know???

Also, is Bucky afraid of Rob’s beeper, or of Rob’s technical (in)ability??

wow. with my new glasses I can actually read the date for this strip without enlarging the strip. Love Bucky’s reaction. Yup. Staying up the lamp.
