Good morning VistaBill, davidf42, Gweedo and other fans. Tracy smells a rat. How long will it take him to remember whose voice it it?
@Gweedo: Iām not the Starman in the song. When I joined as a Pro member, I chose Stargazer as my user name. (Iām an amateur astronomer). However that name was not available so I chose Starman. Yāall have a blessed day.
Good morning you all!Dick recognizes an auld acquaintanceWith which to start the cop and robber danceA janitorās bodyAn hidden bootyAnd weāll see how the plot advances!
Tracyās sense of familiarity with the voice is correct, as we know; but how long will it take him to make the connection with his old nemesis, Gruesome? And when he does, then what? Can Christopher Cushing maintain his secret long enough to get offstage and make an escape?
Well, we were right yesterday when several of us said that Tracy would recognize the voice. I think heāll remember whose voice it is fairly quickly.
It really like the fact that Joe Staton does long shots, medium shots and close-ups. Sydney may disagree, but I find that Joe doesnāt just do heads. I found that the strips in the couple of years before Joe started had excessive use of heard shots and very little depth in each frame. Joeās frames have a lot of depth partly because there are both close and distant characters in a single frame quite often.
I think this is the first day that Jonathan has been spelled right. Perhaps persons who shall not be named noticed that we had commented several times before about it being spelled wrong.
Sounds like itās time again, for some Voice Analysis, on Dietās Voice-O-Graph. Machine ?One might assume thereās a miniature ābuilt-inā one, on the Wrist Wizard, and Tracy will knock it off, quicker than 3 shakes of one of Locherās - Yellow Rubber Duckyās tails ?.
Little History here . . .
The Voice-O-Graph as Vic Wichertās Dick Tracy Encyclopedia reported, came on stream in January 1965.
It was first used to identify Lita Flightās voice . . .then later in 1968 the voice of Piggy Butcher . . . followed after in 1972 for Marvin Barley and the Blonde Saboteur . . . Finally, the voice of Tappy Weltz (Mar.1975) - some may remember as the obscene telephone caller.
It turned āvoicesā into understandable simple designs and displayed them as an oscilograph or printed them on paper. And could be used by law enforcement to exactly identify the speaker of any spoken wordAt the time Tracy noted, āThe Voice on Crime gets a New Weaponā
@Ashmael: good poem. Hopefully we will see more poetry from you in the future. Good comments all. The only thing missing is a poem from Pequod, who seems to be missing this morning. I hope all is well. Yāall have a blessed day.
Itās always such a pleasure to read all the profound, in depth, informative, educational, insightful, inspiring, humorous, courageous, and professional comments posted here on a daily basis. .Oh, wait a minute,,,, this is Alley Oop, isnāt* it*?
Iām having fun with this story, as it is possible to enjoy them even when all logic is thrown out the door, lol (acting in a play while waiting to collect a debt? and he doesnāt disguise a hugely recognizable voice after going to all the trouble of having plastic surgery?) But, as I said, I donāt careā¦..love this story!!!
I recently taped the Masterpiece Mystery adaptation of the Hercule Poirot story āCurtain.ā-ā-You have to watch it. (I havenāt seen it, just read the book.) Itās one of Agatha Christieās cleverest.BTW, the novel was written, I believe, during World War II, with the understanding it wouldnāt be published until after her death. She didnāt want anyone to come along and write additional books with him. When āCurtainā was published, the New York Times ran Poirotās obituary as a tribute.
Joeās art today is terrific ā especially that first panel. The silhouettes of Jonathan and Einstein, the negative silhouettes of the aunts, and the delicate line work detailing the staircase in the shadows.(Kudos also to the GoComics colorist.)
