This is the first time since the Jarvis White days that Milford has made the playoffs. There has not been a state title in ANY sport at Milford since Danny Randolph’s sophomore year on the basketball team. Let’s fix that!
Gil, emulating a psychotic, over-the-hill Mike Ditka circa 1992 when he threatened to whip a fan’s ass on a call in show.Gil has been a disinterested hands-off coach for years and suddenly he finds religion because his squad has blundered into the playdowns in a weak Valley Conference. Dr. Pearl ought to be looking into this, he is a ticking time bomb.
Is Gil(e) grimacing in P1 because the VT coach is sporting a “Monk,” or is he auditioning for the the role of The Joker in the next Batman flick? I should think that he’d be thrilled after making the playoffs/.playdowns/ playouts/ play (insert favorite preposition here)s.
Heck, I can’t ever remember a Milford team in postseason play regardless, so let’s all enjoy this!
“Slander one of my kids?” What the hell is he talking about? The guy slandered Milford’s coaching staff! I do like how the longer Gil’s rant goes on the more the VT coach shrinks. Then he runs away.I don’t think Milford goes all the way this year. Normally the basketball storyline starts by week 2 of December, so I’m thinking Milford goes down in the first round. And speaking of going down, Mopped Up Thorp is going down, all the way to Chinatown! (No, you’re right, that doesn’t make sense.)
WoodyTB, You’re too young. After arriving at Milford in 1958 Gil won his first Valley Conference title in 1959 and again in ’60, ’66. In 1970 Robbie Cannon (like his arm) guided Milford to both Conference and State Championships. Milford repeated as Conference champs in ’71 and ’79. On a down note, in ’82 Gil suffered his first 0-fer football season.
Any of you Gil Thorp’ers interested a 200+ page Best of Gil Thorp v1 from 1985, a 11×17 Gil Thorp framed poster signed by Jack Berrill or a 6×20 framed original Gil Thorp comic panel signed by Jack Berrill?

“Playoffs”???? is that before or after the Playdowns?

Maybe the playoffs are seeding games for the playdowns, like years back when Gil(e) coached kids to the Littel League World(e) Series.

P2- Is that lipstick on Gil’s cheek? Neal Rubin is messing with us. Playoffs? I’m sticking with playdowns in memory of Mr. Berrill.

Wait, what’s that crackling sound coming from Hell??

He should have run up the score. There’s a second lesson in that for the cheap shot artist and whoever put him up to it.

It’s a good thing that doesn’t happen here. As bad as the Redskins have been the last 20 years the whole DC area would be wiped out by now.
