Don’t you just hate it when people rearrange your work space? Sure what you had before was a mess, but…..you.knew.where.things.were! ;-D

At least she hasn’t gone on a mission with nails and hammer in one hand and pictures in the other. That’s quite permanent damage.

When I was 14 due to some legal family issues I wasn’t allowed to live in my house until my sister (at the time 21) could arrive from Germany. Well not only did my mother give her my room and I had to move into the room with the litter box, to add insult to injury she rearranged my room plus her son tore some of my posters. I had over 100 on the walls. The state felt that another adult needed to be there for “my well-being”. I hated that entire summer. Yes the monster who was my father was finally out, but I didn’t have any place to go that was “mine”. The door had to stay open since as I said that was where the litter box was. My first & second try at suicide corresponded with all that. No one even noticed.

I never had my kitchen rearranged but I came home from work to find that my mother-in-law had rearranged my living room and expected me to be happy about it!

Throw her out, and I’m not even remotely kidding.

Maybe Elly could help Grandma find her suitcases. If she’s making herself at home and taking over, it’s time to put her in a box, and FedEx her back where she belongs.

House guests, like fish, smell after 3 days. I’m seeing definite signs it’s time to send the folks home.

No biggie. Moms won’t be around forever – humor ’em while you can.

My husband is helpful around the house – BUT, I’ve asked him not to fool around with my kitchen utensils. He puts them away willy-nilly. I’ll be in the middle of cooking, reach for something, and then spend 5 minutes trying to find it. Ouch.

@Felinefan55: I’m so sorry for what you went through. I’m so glad you’re still here. You’re a survivor. May your saying this out loud help someone else survive, too, and not feel so alone.

No, there was never a story line about Marian having Alzheimer’s.

    SPOILER ALERT

Marian died of cancer on March 4, 1998. When looking up the date on the strip, it reminded me so much of when my dad and I got the call that my mother had passed in the night in 2006. I still cry over that one.

Thank you all for the kind words. I hope that I haven’t caused any pain. I know for me one moment I’m fine with reading others recounts and the next I am in a ball on the floor in the closet over the silliest things. Such is life.

Haven’t read all the comments, but from my personal perspective, never had to deal with a MIL! And in a way I am glad though, hubby never knew his mom. And I do feel sad about that, for his sake.
