Oooh lemme me see Burl’s stamp book, how exciting.Neither Burl or Jerry served in the Military. Burl, and Jerry were 4F. Burl because he couldn’t pass the literacy test (is there one?) and Jerry just because no body in the world would want to share a barracks with him. Ever!
Oooooh, pet peeve.Sounds like an attitude of “I had other priorities” to me. But let’s face it, no military, self-respecting or not, would ever take Burl or Jerry, for any number or reasons.I always manage to ask the Jerrys of the world what it was that they did to advance the common good and most times the answer I get is a splutter and a plea that making a lot of money in the oil business was an overwhelming benefit to us all. They will look the other way when encountering a shattered Vietnam vet who has lived on the street since 1975, dismissing him as just a drunk. I once mentioned Matthew 25:31-46—“Lord, when did we see you hungry…?”— to one particularly righteous oaf and have never heard from him since. Small loss. Chicken hawk SOB.
Serving coffee (or any food) is a pretty important job! And army (navy, in Dale’s case I guess) travels on its stomach.
I’ve worked with a couple of guys who were military cooks. They were great colleagues, and they always volunteered to work Christmas day so others could have the day off. They said they were used to it :-)
I thought Jerry served in the marines. Or maybe he is a want to be. Hats off to Dale for serving it is a big deal to me . Okay I served in the army and I may be bias .
I notice teeth cleaning is to be canceled. Do they brush or floss or is that a dumb question? After all nothing but clean soft food goes in their mouth.
