Where does Hobbes keep the tissues?

that’s not a tissue, it’s a pawkerchief. hobbes keeps it in his “pants”. yes, tigers pant to regulate body temperature.

Could be worse. Hobbes could be allergic to cats.

Sorry you can’t enjoy them with the rest of us.-So, then … can we look forward to missing your contribution to the Sunday forum from now on?

I miss Hobbes the commentor, is he ill?

When he is ill, I wish good and soon recover, for we miss him!

It does make them difficult to follow upon first read: however, it also requires you to take a second or even third look. An excellent accomplishment for the artist. It is the same reason I admire the “Spaceman Spiff” cartoons. I’m not crazy about the story lines, and they are difficult to read. However, the artwork is stunning, and the flights of fancy of a child’s heart are captured perfectly.

I like it, how Hobbes is creeping up in the beginning!

An artist whim?!!?!?!?!This is the epitome of the cartoonist wit. This is an extrapolation of allergies to a tiger. If a tiger or tigger ever had allergies to late summer flora what next?

Is Hobbes allergic to cat fur?

I know how Hobbes feels! Another reason I hate the summer is because my Hay Fever starts.

It’s a CARTOON, for heaven’s sake. It doesn’t have to be totally logical. Why would you worry about where the tissue came from?

Oh, c’mon, we all know Hobbes really said, “but id’s snot.”

So stop looking at them on Sundays. See Unnormal’s comment to you.

Watterson felt constrained by the rigid panel requirements of the syndicate and used the Sundays to break out of those bonds once in a while. I think he did that marvelously.

Well, don’t read them then and, more importantly, don’t complain about them to the rest of us who do like them.

Watterson’s unusual Sunday format is one of the my favorite things about the strip. It is one of the things that makes the strip a classic. I would have hated for him to have made it “easier to read.”

It’s worse trying to chase (or escape) someone when you have hay fever!

Framed and matted is the best way to view this creation. No, I’m not with the sales team, it’s just that the balance of this drawing, the integration of geometrical form with the story flow, and on and on and on. Surely it was designed to be a poster.
