âOld fartsâ and men are not the only people who get sick of trying to have a conversation during a meal with someone who is too busy texting to look away from his or her phoneâŠ
We can only hope that as some of the âshinyâ wears off in a few years, that the infatuated will look up and see that others are in the room and might be worth talking toâŠ
@ NightShade09 â Having the latest doesnât equate to constant usage. There is a Southwest airlines commercial in rotation lately that has two male and two female characters walking through the airport. Both women are on their cell phones (either texting or reading e-mails) as they walk.
I once got a call from my boss on my day off who was irate that I had gone out and did not turn my cell phone on so she could reach me. She was not amused when I asked if the building had burned down or the company gone bankrupt while I was out and about.
THANK YOU!! It annoys me no end when I go to a restaurant and people are yacking on their cell phones. Youâre not that important. Others around you really donât care to hear your phone conversation. Add to that you have guests with you and youâre being rude to them. When your server comes over to take your order or ask any questions and you hold the hand up in the âdo not disturbâ sign, your server should then take their sweet time coming back. Take your conversation outside. Next up, people who wear hats while at a restaurant.
Sitting in a cafe, listening (not by choice) to a heated âdiscussionâ between a man and his girlfriend on his cell. When the guy got up to leave, someone saidâŠvery loudâŠâThank youâŠthat was very entertaining to all of usâ
My wife & I each have cell phones that are never on unless we make a call to each other. which happens about 10 times a year or less. We have never texted, Twittered, or Farcebooked. Our phones are as simple as a tight string between 2 Dixie cups. We never use a cell phone while driving, & are afraid of people all around us connected to everything but attention to driving.
I hope you remember this attitude of yours when your own kids write you off as an irrelevant âdinosaurâ simply because you suddenly had a birthday.
Okay, hereâs the deal. I have two cell phones â office & personal, one laptop â office, and one tablet â home & church. Iâm always on the leash. I would LOVE to have a reason to have lunch or dinner here. And by the way â Iâm a woman.
When I was working at one particular company, I was giving a contact up-date form by HR for my employment file⊠I didnât have a cell phone at the time so I marked N/A in the blank that asked for cell PH#. I was called up by the HR Mgr. personally and asked what my cell phone number was. I explained I didnât have one and they could reach me via my land line. He told me to get one. I said if the company feels itâs necessary that I have one then the company should provide it and pay the charges⊠that was the last I ever heard about itâŠ
Texting is something I havenât figured out how to counter yet. However whenever a person is having a cell phone conversation at a restaurant I sometimes butt in with a comment like âI think you should dump herâ or âIâm sorry to hear about your hysterectomyâ or whatever is appropriate to the conversation.
I know it pisses people off and some tell me I am rude. So I respond, âOh, Iâm so sorry. I didnât know that was supposed to be a private conversation.â
Oh, really ? âUnless you are under arms or taking part in an indoor ceremony with outdoor protocol, you take your COVER off when entering a building.ââŠas Iâm sure your Dad (who really served, and knew the Regs) did.
Televisions are WAY worse than wifi/cell phones. At least you can choose not to use your phone. Finding a place without TVs blaring in your face is a challenge these days.
@JustJoking Hats to be removed upon entering the building. @smlinde Yep. The problem is some parents are trying to be best friends instead of being parents. The word âNOâ has seemingly been stricken from their vocabulary.

Blocking all cellphones is a great idea, but no WiFi is against nature!

Itâs the strangest thing, nobody seems to know, but cell phones have an off button that works rather well.

I donât have to turn my phone off, as I rarely get calls. The last one was last Thursday.

Not that women might be expected to flock to a bar called Olpharts, but many of us geezerettes would also appreciate an electronics-free zone.
