-The Pope is royalty. The world moves for him.-Interesting. So this would represent a real-world test of that belief. And the belief might get knocked into a cocked hat, so to speak…

Had a train trestle right next to the old city park in my hometown. It was low, narrow, and the road bent as you went under it, making it “blind” as well. And this was on a thoroughfare! When we were hanging out at the park and heard a “crunch” we all knew exactly where to look. The only question was; did they have a head-on, hit the supports, or peel the top of the vehicle off?

I guess it doesn’t take much to thrill you, wrwallaceii …

Me, I’d go for the rest of a joke: “It measures 12’ 3”. Well, let’s try it, since there aren’t any cops around."

Well, they could always ‘daylight’ the tunnel like Norfolk Southern and CSX have done for most of their tunnels for running double-stack container trains…. or lower the road(bed).

This would be a lot funnier if Benedict were still Pope. Francis doesn’t dress up so much.

@somebodyshort It would be much more effective to let some air out of the ego.. much more there than in the tires.

Reminds me of some old saw about camels an the eye of a needle…

The local “low train trestle” here is because trains have a minimum slope they can climb, especially here where they can’t build up any speed; and we’re right on the water, so the road can’t go any lower without being flooded. There is another route trucks can take that goes over the tracks, but after a few didn’t get the message, or see the sign, the trestle is painted bright yellow with black and reflective white stripes. And still…

“….or see the sign, the trestle is painted bright yellow with black and reflective white stripes. And still…"~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~That’s because trains are so quiet and unnoticeable.

Makes you wonder why the tunnels are not built to accommodate those hats. I know that I’ve had that problem before when I wear my “Pope-o chapeau”.

Say what you will, it doesn’t really mitre..Actually, it is a bishop’s mitre, the pope’s has the triple crown. I remember William F. Buckley trying to put down Agorisma as “favored by no one except a few simple parish priests.” The Christian Century pointed out “Giovanni Roncelli is no ‘simple parish priest’ … he is a bishop … of Rome.” (Pope John 23, elipsis in the original)

In theory the Pope can be someones ex. In the Roman Catholic religion the marriage has to be consummated by sex for it to be finalized.

In the retirement complex where I live, there is a lady who was married for 22 years. She and her husband divorced and he is now a Priest and comes here frequent to check on her well being. .

i thought they were checking to make sure he could enter a tunnel, with the tunnel representing a vacuum and no sense of the real world.

Something like that happened in NE DC. A dump truck driver had to stop for a light. As his luck would have it, he stopped partly under an overpass. His truck just fit, until he accidentally hit the PTO. Most PTO’s have a lock out, but his old Freightliner didn’t. The dump bed went up, snagging on the bridge. When he tried to pull forward, his truck stood up on its rear wheels.

The really fun part is when they pave the road with six inches of asphalt and don’t change the clearance sign.

cepa: There are some married Roman Catholic priests, mainly converted Anglicans already married. They would not be defrocked should they become divorced.
