Terrific. Prius driver vs. Vegan. Throw in Jef the Cyclist and they’ll clear the cafe.

Guys like Victor make me proud to be a meat-eater; I’ve never heard anyone scream, “How dare you not eat bacon cheeseburgers!”:Eat and let eat.

Meh, manufacturing the materials for the cars batteries causes more damage to the environment than a Hummer over its entire life span. Also, if he instead uses a petroleum fuel based vehicle then he’s using an animal product.

Erm… the industrial meat and dairy complex does a lot more damage to the environment than cars. I’m all for poking a little fun at people, but not eating meat and dairy is probably THE best thing one can do for the environment, in terms of personal changes.

@LobosSolos No actually, the supposed “studies” showing Hummers were cleaner than Priuses were based on made up numbers. If Toyota were really using the amount of resources these studies claimed, then they would be selling the Prius at a massive loss, and their annual reports wouldn’t be able to hide this.

People with electric cars kind of gloss over the fact that the power to recharge them is in all likelihood coming from a fossil fuel generating plant.

Don’t worry, the polar bear should just evolve back into brown bears.

Eat the elderly and ride the unemployed to work. That should help with population reduction and reduce exhaust emissions.

still burning fuel to generate electricity. scrap the car unless it is a solar car.. then again, components manufactured still need some kind of energy.. hence.. go back to stone age n feed off plants.

Stephan needs to go back to trying to be funny. Lately we see a lot of his agendas and not much humor.

I am not sure whether I am laughing more at Cartoon Boy’s satirical Battle of the Eco-Extremists or at today’s comments; but, either way, it brightens the day!

I think eating may be the least you could do. At least the body wouldn’t go to waste.

@leons – polar bears are most definitely bears. Biggest, baddest bear there is, and will gladly show you their teeth to prove their ursan dental pattern. Koalas and pandas are not bears at all, and teddies are only bears in that they resemble bears, or that they are bare-ly there (as in, you know, teddies). Now, were you to somehow convince a polar bear to put on a teddie, then I would be impressed…. with the pile of carnage left behind.

Cattle, turkey and hogs, if allowed to breed without our “help”, would be fine. There are lots of wild ones out there to keep up the species. The current species of chicken is probably a cross-breed of wild fowl and not original. As far as a crippling reduction to the planet’s biodiversity, the planet has been able so far to produce species that can live and survive without our help. I’m not a vegan, but can appreciate PETA’s efforts in protecting both domestic and wildlife. California leads the world in legislation protecting animals and we haven’t either starved or gone broke.

Just enjoying the whole thrust of the story arc over the past few days; the self-righteous vs. the sanctimonious. The older I get, the more convinced I am that Aristotle was right: Moderation in all things.

Hmmmm..that’s not what I’ve found. Most meat eaters I’ve encountered do not feel they have to be defensive about their food preferences. I should know, because I’m one of them. I used to hate vegans but had a realization that changed my mind. Now I smile sincerely whenever I’m introduced to one….because that means an extra 200+ Big Macs for ME!

If you really want to save the environment, try aiming your anger toward the few companies producing most of the emissions instead of people who don’t eat tofu granola three meals a day.
