I’m amazed they actually found Dickie’s bones, and he wasn’t a hunchback at all but just had a terrible scoliosis. There was a documentary on the creation of a suit of armor for a man with a similar condition which showed that Richard could indeed have ridden into the battle that killed him.
History is always written by the winners – when Shakespeare was writing he only had the Tudor’s version to go on and he was not going to paint Henry the Seventh in a bad light when his granddaughter was the reigning monarch! Richard was actually a very well liked by people.

First Shakespearean play I ever saw. 5th or 6th grade. Grey Chapel. Ohio Wesleyan University. 1969 or 1970.
