The Funky story felt a bit flat, but the next team-up should allow for more depth …

I foresee trouble between Blaze and Rebekah/Ponytail. They are polar opposites, as much as can be within B.B. Eyes’ camp. Doubleup is impetuous, not a thinking-man’s gangster. There will be fireworks.

    Next time, in Tracyville …

    “Take that, Copper!”

    “Flattop got away, Tracy!”

    “Yes, Sam.”

“But not before he ruined a perfectly good hat.”

    Elsewhere …

… Evil Forces gather in secret.

IS THIS THE END OF DICK TRACY?!!

Blaze is attracted to women, just not this type. Romances at “work” are not a good idea anyway, especially romances with someone else’s girlfriend. We don’t need the “bad blood” back. They’re dangerous enough as is.

    Morning, Tracyville!

Thanks, Pequod. That was very good, very good.

I don’t see what the purpose of the Funky Winkerbean story was. It went nowhere and did nothing. At least that I could see.

Can anyone recall Doubleup being recruited over to the Blackhearts gang ??There was the earlier effort via Abner Kadadaver to pull B-B Eyes over to them, (rather than terminating him), and of course, we recently saw that B-B Eyes invitation to Blaze Rize !

The earlier link-man between the two Groups (or rather Méliés) - had been Abner K, but he - now seems somewhat “out of favour”, having botched the Tracy kill job ?

Cant recall any contact between B-B Eyes and Méliés ! ?Or with any elements of the Blackhearts group ?

    HELP !

Great job AnyFace! Can you make the figures a Sunday regular? It would be nice to mix things up and move past the same old things. They’re the most exciting thing about today’s strip!

If the first panel is foreshadowing, Ponytail’s motives may be more complex than “getting it on with Doubleup, getting it on.”

Good to see Blaze again. She’s one of my favorite new ones. And love seeing the characters smoke.

B-B is smart to make sure there is no bad blood between Blaze and Doubleup. I wouldn’t want to see Blaze go out like Hy Pressure. That whip can break necks. The “old” Ponytail learned the hard way that you don’t walk out on Doubleup. Meet the new Ponytail, same as the old Ponytail? She’s not Blaze’s type. I’m surprised Doubleup has been talking about Blaze. Yet, it makes sense that Ponytail would get him talking, whatever her agenda. I like this peek into B-B’s lair. There’s a lot going on in Tracyville, and I appreciate the depth this brings. Soon this crew is likely to be pulling a Blackheart-sponsored caper. Elsewhere, Stiletta knows the Nitrates have her dead son’s car. Tracy and Sam should be getting back from Funky-town about now. Coffee, bank robbers, comic books: it’s all in a day’s work for Tracy and Sam.

Thanks for the kind words kind words VistaBill, AnyFaceMikeyj, Gweedo, StarBear, Night-Gaunt49, Neil Wick, davidf42, Sydney Phillips, Starman1948, Chris Robinson, Chris Sherlock and Ray Toler (that “L” was a typo ;-)). Very much appreciated!

Ponytail is “not her style”? Could Blaze Rize be a lesbian? The following is taken from the Dick Tracy Wiki:

“Writer Mike Curtis has stated on the Dick Tracy Yahoo Group that he intended both Blaze Rize and Hot Rize to be lesbians, but their sexuality was never explicitly referred to in the strip.”

“Similarly, Blaze’s ‘day job’ was not specifically identified, but Mike Curtis implied on the Dick Tracy Fan Club Facebook page that she was a professional dominatrix (much like singer Jane Weidlin, who was a partial inspiration for the character).”
