Peter: I'm gonna go hang out at the park. Andy: You said you had a ton of homework. Peter: I do, but it's the spring semester. Andy: What's THAT have to do with anything?! Peter: Spring semester is when seniors traditionally shift into goof-off slacker mode. College applications are done...graduation is imminent...you can't blame a kid for wanting to enjoy his final months of high school! Even the teachers joke about "senioritis". Trust me, it's normal. Andy: Except that you're a JUNIOR, Peter! Peter: It's called "practice". You don't want me going into next year unprepared, do you?

I feel for Peter. I had the same problem in the spring. I had a lot to study for but after a long winter I couldn’t concentrate so I’d go outside for “just a few minutes.” Alas, A’s become B’s, and B’s become C’s that way…

And to all you seniors who actually have “senioritis,” I was witness to an assistant principal advising a classroom that he had kids in his office crying because they’d already spent all the money for all the stuff that goes along with graduating, and they weren’t going to graduate because they didn’t have the grades. You have to keep pushing until you’re actually across that line and you walk across the stage and get that diploma. Don’t think it’ll be handed to you.

I have sinking feeling that Peter will be one of a rare few who flunks out of state college.
