Enough with the negative stereotypes. I’m stick of people putting down each other based on where they live or don’t live. How about everyone share something amazing or interesting about where they live. Or lived at one time, or where they were born. Baslim’s interesting chicken-killing story inspired this. I’d never heard the term “flat-lander” before, so I enjoyed learning that. .I also like the idea of Saturday being a day for a theme of sorts. We’ve done Bring Your Pet to Frog Applause Day. I don’t know what to call this day: Say Something Interesting About a Place You Call/ed Home Day.
You’d be out of patience too if Teresa locked you up in such a small box with no food, water or companionship. Break free, break down those panel walls and run like Hildago. (One of my favorite movies.)
I will tellsomething about the place I grew up.There on my block in the middle of the sidewalk was a man’s shoe print made when the cement was wet.As small children it became the giant’s mark upon us.
I am reminded of a joke my mother told me when I was about 10. Somewhere back in the Cenozoic era. It was a long, drawn-out story about a man driving a donkey to market, and every once in a while the donkey would say to the master, “Are we there yet?” The response was always, “Patience, jackass, patience!” Well, after the story had dragged on for about 15 minutes with no end in sight, I complained that she wasn’t getting to the point. The answer was, of course…
My patience is infinite, but I may be leaving for a short while in the near future. Please treat my replacement with patience equal to that I have shown you. Thank you.
75% patient isn’t bad, for a jackass. But I fear our Fourth Wall is shattered beyond repair: it has been made a Forth Wall by the strong rear hooves of this mighty beast!
painedsmile asks us to say something (interesting) about where we live or have lived. Except for a two-year hiatus in Texas, my legal home has always been in Chicagoland, where I was raised (I did, however, get my college, etc. education out-of-state, and subsequently resided for a few years overseas and then in due course for a long time maintained a work-residence in another state while still legally a Chicagolander). We have U.S.-grade Prime corruption of all kinds so deeply ingrained that the majority here mostly don’t even care anymore. That’s interesting.
We live on a small east coast barrier island. When I stand on our front porch I can see the Atlantic ocean on the left and the back bay and marshes to my right. We’re close to a large bird sanctuary so we hear and see lots of birds year round. During the summer months our population more than doubles, but it is always very tame and pleasant here bouts.
My wife (yes, still) on an overlook above the Panama Canal circa 1973. Lived there for a year and a half courtesy the US Army. So yeah, this one’s past.
And while I’m posting images that spill out of the comment column, taken from my current front yard. Very different weather.
Even a jackass can only take so much. KiYa!!!!.painedsmile Born and raised in the the show me state just outside of St. Louis. We have some really cool stuff here…..a bright shiny arch, great Italian food on The Hill, a wonderful zoo, riots, children being killed in drive bys (2 in the past 4 days), and this really great creek I used to play in when I was a kid. I have warm memories of creek walks and days spent playing in the woods. We also have this great legacy of that wonderful creek being contaminated by a big corporation that helped make the A-bombs back in the day. At this point in the game, I’m not sure if that big shiny arch is the gateway to the west or the door to crazy town.

What is the difference between patience and stubbornness? Is there a difference between being mule-headed and being the other end of the mule?
William Neal McPheeters over 9 years ago
Is that a mule? or is that a jackass? I think it might be a Jackass but I can’t spend any more time considering it … sorry, but I’m out of time.
