This gramma knows that little boys, are supposed to wear out shoes, I’d be surprised if they lasted till the next shoe size! Why nag them about being normal kids?
My kids used to wear out their shoes regularly when the school playground had a gravel surface. The school switched to that rubber matting stuff and the shoes have stayed in great shape ever since.

Yep, confuse the kid. Can’t really let him go barefoot in this country though.

It looks to me as if he didn’t wear out his shoes so much as he just got them really dirty. Dirty shoes can be cleaned.
