I hear you. My best guess is it comes from fear and disilusionment.. According to an ABC study, Republicans tend to fear for their personal safety and security, Democrats tend to fear for society as a whole. They find their vote is powerless, become frantic to the point that they feel if they post in a public forum, they will finally succeed in changing the world. Let them cower and hide behind a computer screen. I just ignore them and move on.
Actually, if history teaches us anything at all, it is that a bazillion people can be wrong. Slavery, the inferior status of women, and creationism are the first three exhibits that come to mind.
