Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
It will be entertaining to see where THIS is going. Some may say that the pointy nose on the left could be Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot, the hat to his right resembles BB-Eyes, and even the silhouette on the far right seems similar to one of the Rize sisters. Perhaps the previous generation of those characters ORâŚmaybe none of the above! No matter what, I will still look forward to this continuing story!
Itâs interesting that Owenâs name is âO. Cormac Desmond.â That seems to indicate that âCormac Desmondâ is his surname, because Tracy refers to him as âOwen.â
The other four people in the last panel would be the representatives or leaders of the cityâs top gangs in the spring of 1924. They are not likely to be related to the characters of today, although I suppose they might be connected.
As far as we know so far, only Jimmy is involved in the current crime. If he has accomplices from other gangs we havenât heard about it yet. BB-Eyes offered him experts from the Blackhearts but we never saw him take up the offer.
Well, this is probably a teaser and weâll be seeing them better later on, but they also seem to be secondary characters like the Munro Brothers who tend to appear as an ensemble and few of us really know which is which.
I hope the 1924 account is useful, but that the flashback doesnât last too long. Iâd much rather see Tracy in operation in (strip-)current time.I wonder about Owen Cormac Desmond. He seems to be a friend of Tracy and to be helping; yet his part in this story seems to me unaccountably prominent unless he is to have some further involvement. Why, he might even turn out to be Mr. Bigg, for all I know!
â⌠and not as a clue to the âidentityâ of Mr. Bigg (since some have speculated that Mr. B. may be P.S. Tone â aka â*Pear-Shape*â, whom Chester Gould modeled on himself).-ââââââââââââââââââââââââ
Guess I missed reading that âspeculationâ . . .
For back in Nov,1981 through Jan, 1982 - a (Collins/Fletcher) tale, Lizz had been kidnapped, and Diet Smithâs life threatened by âan Old Friendâ (actually Angeltop).Patton and Tracy noted that many former foes (25) were now âOut of Jailâ ⌠(among them revenge seekers?)So Tracy did a âround robinâ check up on the group among them - Pearshape, now based in Los Angeles
The meeting took place at the âSharpeTone Spaâ where an apparently now thin, P.S. Tone (heâd done an Officer Jim ;-) had âteamed upâ with one Jim Pistol - to form a successful Health operation for an Up-market Clientele
Tracy âat the timeâ reached the assumption that it was legitimate operation, with Pearshape âgoing straight*.
Below the Sunday page of Jan 4, 1982 - that covered it !And a Rogues Gallery âupdateâ of Jan, 10,1982So not âimpossibleâ, but these suggest itâs unlikely that heâs Mr, Bigg
Hey Av! If you wouldnât stay up all night waiting for the new strip to come out, you wouldnât be so sleepy. And as far as riding the rails into the big city, have you ever tried snoozing on the ride? And if all else fails, try getting a job testing mattresses. And I donât mean testing your neighborsâ mattresses while the husband is off at work!Jusâ trying to help!
That comment was meant for young Avenger! Gotta keep the boy out of trouble. We donât want to find out he was shot (in the back). You are too old and rangy for that!
And Neil, stating the obvious, but that âmovingâ red - youâve placed on the sign, really makes standout . . .
Clever stuff !
Searching my mind for a âpositiveâ, on the âoriginal artâ, and the only thing was possibly the Large SIZE . . .And perhaps with that HD line starter - the Artist (somehow?), had HIgh Definition - in mind !
Dicky dear, itâs just not fairThroughout the night you donât hold me tightYou know Iâm sad, angry and madThat Johnny got hurt digging up some dirtYouâve ignored my need to just read read readThat stupid dusty book yet at me you wonât even lookIâll just go to bed and sleep you donât care that I cry and weepKeep doing what you do itâs causing me to feel very blueTess my dear itâs not that I donât careBut you havenât got a clue all the things I have to doThat geeky Owen gave a boring tour inside a caveAll his talk of track and train caused explosions in my brainNow heâs given me this book and he said I have to lookAt the lives of men long dead itâs a bat across my headI hope youâll quickly see that number one youâll always beBut until I solve this case You wonât get my warm embrace.

Abe looks like heâs in his twenties in panel three. That makes him in his 80âs or 90âs now. He looks pretty good for 80-90 in panel 2.
