Way to deflate poor Arlo….

Actually she’s right….Although on any given day….

And there my friends would be the start of a “domestic disturbance” if it were me. Sigh. Egos are such precious fragile things.

Janis is an ass

And that’s when the fight started…

Maybe you’re not the type men wished they have danced with Janis.

When we were young and hormones raging we were all the type.

Typical thoughtless Janis answer.

That was very cruel.

And so it goes. We never “really” leave high school.

And a swift kick straight to the family jewels.

That was indeed, very ego-deflating. I feel Arlo’s pain.

His hair do would have gotten in the way…

Janis just said it wrong. She meant… Arlo is too sensitive and nice not to have realized that a girl was yearning for him

“Oh, yeah? Oh, yeah?! Well, your mother’s got a mustache!”

I think she’s teasing him and it is Arlo she is bug-eyed lscoping out in the hallway at hgh school. (yesterday’s strip) He just never knew it. That was my mom and dad’s story.

Sigh. It’s obviously all in how everyone is hearing it. It has nothing to do with what she said. Everyone knows that, generally speaking, the types of men or women that the opposite sex pines over are NOT long term relationship material, unless they change. It’s not a big revelation.If it helps, I too at first reacted to Janis’ remark. Then I realized that what she said about Arlo is true for me. And that my partner considers me a “keeper” while the other types of young men we all knew are generally faltering in their relationships.No one can be a field-player and a keeper at the same time. One or the other dominates.

OR . . . . . he is not the type because he was nice enough to never ignore any girl at a school dance, if he noticed she was standing/sitting alone instead of dancing?

Either“You’re not the type any woman pines over.”

or“You’re so sensitive that you would have noticed.”.The latter is more apt to be true, the former to have been her meaning.

Janis just doesn’t want Arlo reminiscing over past missed opportunities. (Selfish of her!)

I’m a woman of the female gender, and am tired of seeing Janis’ putdowns of Arlo. Is this supposed to be funny or insightful or plot-moving, or something?

Tomorrow, she will clarify with…You would have noticed and asked her to dance.

It’s not necessarily an insult, to say a man is not the “type” that 14-year-old girls are attracted to. It just means Arlo isn’t a biker, a criminal or in a “boy band”.
