Well, I’m impressed! Not necessarily with mom; but for certain anyone who can easily pronounce a five syllable word, much less understand the meaning…

It appears that Calvin doesn’t know his onions, but he can anthropomorphize and transmogrify.

Never give you food a name.

Maybe Mom should be cutting down an onion instead of cutting it up.

Some veggies anthropomorphize as the unwanted guest.

I saw a Beavis and Butthead episode where they are watching a sad film and Beavis is eating something with an onion in and the onion makes his eyes water. Butthead thinks Beavis is crying but no matter how much Beavis protests, Butthead keeps teasing him.

A good anime about animals and food is Silverspoon, the main characters goes pondering about it all the first season since he becomes attached to a piglet in a rural technical high school.You can watch it in Crunchyroll and maybe in youtube too.
