What I wanna Know Is WHO Is the Moron that Paid 700 Bucks for Old One Eye’s “Void Sculpture?”

I hope this doesn’t mean the end of Zebo…. I was just getting use to the “guilt free” schadenfreude… I wouldn’t mind seeing Lu’s classmates as well.

But it also seems that Dez is starting to become more “naturalized” into the Luanniverse. That’s a good thing, and perhaps she’s the “next gen” Delta/Rosa. We’ll see.

I’m still waiting to see if Greg/Karen offer a little “Deus ex Machina” magic and, somehow, Lu gets a transfer to Moony.

I think Luann would be a great match with MR.One Eye.

Dez may have bought the masterpiece, but I expect her to replace on its pedestal for the duration of the show and then pick it up afterwards for whatever mystic purpose she may have in mind.Jock is a very direct fellow, but not at all mean. I still like Emo’s one-eyed navigation through life….

In the Spanish version, Mr. Jock is saying “you’re cute” rather than “hot”. Different tone.

Is there a Spanish equivalent for the concept of “hot” in this context? “Caillente,” maybe?

A very polite strip, today. Now what? Do we relax a bit while Greg retools for the next big storyline? Since HS graduation we went to Peru with Gunther and Rosa, met Bernice’s college dorm mates, tested Gunther with Tiffany, and tempted Luann and Quill sexual desires. Will it be the “big” wedding? Crystal and Knute re-entering the strip after their long absence? Gunther and Tiffany testing the waters of mutual maturity? The return of Rosa? The canvas is open for the artist to create a new masterpiece. I’m ready.

Seems like the class just started and it’s already over?! Two art pieces? It’s almost as if Luann has been alive a LOT longer than her 18 years! ; )

The only strip that was ever consistent about real time the longest was Gasoline Alley and it no longer is. Uncle Walt should have passed long ago, so…..No biggie.

Jock’s comment on Luann being hot should improve her self esteem markedly.

Luann might keep the Jock in the back of her mind. Like AtomivDog alludes to, he might be a good thing for her, depending upon how other things play out!

In an introductory German class in the summer one student said the instructor was “hot” (I’m translating) and he instantly corrected her, saying he was “warm.” He was a cool guy!

I think that after the 1st year’s report card on the new cast members, most should be cast out. Viper is a weak copy of Crystal. Sun is cute, but may be a bit offensive in her Chinese depiction. Mr. Goth cannot replace Ox. The “cyclops” or “one-eyed Jack” is hopelessly dull. The jury is still out on Dez. Zebo is a bit stiff, but his class is finished. The drama coach (I forget her name) is good. I am neither a writer nor a cartoonist and all I can say is what catches my interest, and that would be Gunther, Rosa, Tiffany, and the little truck driver-philosopher in Peru. Of course, Knute and Crystal are also my favorites. I understand that it is “different strokes for different folks” but those are my humble opinions.

Of course, Luann may be in this 2-year college for another 10 years (if it’s like high school), so it’s likely we shall see Mr. Zebo again. Dunno about the only other instructor at Pitt CC whom we saw (ever so briefly), Mr. Raine. And of course the only person on the Moony faculty whom we’ve ever met is Mrs. Manzone, so I assume she will continue to be Quill’s and Tiffany’s only drama teacher. Bernice and Gunther will probably continue to be teacherless…

Does Des think that mask still holds Luann’s aura? (If Luann starts feeling pin-pricks on her face, she may regret asking an easy affordable price for the mask!)

Not really…. Just a slight adjustment to the grin/smile is all that was needed, and I believe he did that in subsequent drawings of Sun. I hope she does return…

I wouldn’t be surprised if Zebo hangs around a while. Considering Greg majored in art in college, where one meets all kinds of eccentric professors, Zebo is probably a composite manifestation from those days – wrapped up in a comic strip character, of course. I know I’d find treasure tapping into my own studio and classroom experiences, everything from Sister Mary Elephant nuns to a guy who put black powder in ashtrays to have “fun” with his smoking students.

Luann, who has heretofore displayed no artistic talent to speak of, has created a mask from the paper mache’ mold bearing a remarkably detailed rendering of her own face (but was unable to repair the damage done by Quill!’s fumbling, next time coat your face with petroleum jelly first, genius).Dez will likely festoon the mask with feathers and place it on an incense alter in order to send out “good vibes” to it’s creator.

When I saw Dez buying the mask, I thought, “Maybe Luann will get some good karma wafted her way.” Think positive!

Maybe burning the mask along with the incense, and chanting the right words, will summon Aaron Hill back to the strip?

now I know why I like Dez… she’s a keeper. I just wish we could know a little more about her.. e.g. what classes she is taking; remember her major was listed as ‘undecided’ and so she actually has some things in common with Luann.

That’s not surprising. Disney animation is famous for giving its animated characters the physical traits of the performers doing the voices.

Except that Mulan (in I & II) was not Lucy Liu. It was Ming-Na Wen (Deb Chen on ER, and on Agents of SHIELD, etc.) Ming-Na Wen
