It was only 2010 that Blockbuster Video filed for bankruptcy. VHS was big from the 80s through the late 90s when DVD took over. Netflix stepped in about that time, but it’s only been streaming since 2007. Things have been moving very quickly, my friends.

I think that was a “Calvin and Hobbes” comic. (Renting VHSs… those were the days I remember.)

I think it was in the early 80s that we rented VCRs.A few years later they became affordable for purchase.

I first rented a VCR in ’87. Then we spent a couple of hours picking out movies.

I bought my first VCR in 1982. It was an RCA on sale at Sears for $599 (half price).

Mid 80s, family bought me a membership at the video store. The membership was $40, and that allowed me to rent VHS tapes.

We have 3 working DVD/VHS players we still use ; ). LP’s are making a come back, much thinner & flimsier than the originals.
