Makes me remember earlier, gentler times, like “the Andy Griffith Show” aor “Green Acres”’ Simple things that can bring a smile to your face.
Someone said he was working in Antarctica for several months. When that assignment ended, he left Antarctica via aircraft. The pilot did this regularly, and knew people would stop being able to detect odors that were constantly present in their lives, and they would become re-sensitized with time in places, such as Antarctica, that did not have those odors. So, as he approached a landing, he opened a window, so the passengers would be able to detect the “odor of civilization.” The odor was that of cut grass and sewage.
