Any reason not to go on this one makes perfect sense.

The only diet they ever lost any weight on was Atkins. They were eating sticks of butter when everything else was gone, and they still lost weight.

Cathy can’t handle the sugar or carbs of strictly fruit and vegetables, she’ll just get fatter. Plus the deprivation and craving of the wrong carbs will have her eating everything in sight within hours.

Not if she actually, you know, does some cardio and resistance training to boost her metabolism in order to burn off those carbs.

Then again, this is the same woman who can’t make past her threshhold because she doesn’t want to admit that she’s been too lazy to exercise regularly for the past 20 years!

You said it, Tanya. The first week or so is hard because your body is used to all the junk, but after a while you feel soo much better.

It’s not just willpower, or laziness. There’s not always time to exercise, and junk food can be an addiction like everything else. Diets don’t work! That’s why she’s always on a new one. Everyone knows if you eat right & exercise that you can stay reasonable, but who has the time? Restaurants don’t care what they feed you, and it’s the same with processed foods . They all make you fat! It’s easy to look down and judge if you’re perfect, but just look around. Nobody’s perfect anymore. And it’s not that easy.

You have to drop out of modern culture to a certain extent. I know from experience the power of food addiction. I used to stack coke cans in towers by my desk.

Step 1 - I stopped eating out, and cultivated a tea addiction to replace the coke addiction. I started with lots of sugar in the tea to simulate coke, but gradually cut it down until I drink my green tea straight. We buy fresh, and when we cook, it is from scratch. This makes food more expensive, both in time and money, but you don’t need as much of it, and it is sooo much more delicious. (Some of you may need to learn how to cook.)

Step 2 - I got rid of my commuter car, and walk, bike or bus. I hate exercising in a gym, and this fits the bill. I hate driving in traffic. The only driving I do is long road trips for vacation. I’ve also seen “Trek Desks” that let you work over a treadmill and walk while you type, but I’ve never tried one.

Ballet, Yoga, and walking 2-3 miles/day (on alternating days) helps but doesn’t do it completely. I still had to join Weight Watchers because of meds I’m on. I do agree that there is far, far, far too much temptation everywhere we go – restaurants, offices, even the stores serve food as you go thru.
