A bit of “bluffing”, perhaps? -

An “excuse” to help us get to know them better? – Or perhaps a quest to be “not normal”, and to not have to “bow to the pressure” of the “status quo” or the so-called “everyone’s dream” frame of wedding?

Such quizes are clap trap, which is pretty much the point. There are always those who are going to say that a couple is doomed by superficial aspects or due to silliness like horoscopes. We had two people for such reasons separately state that we would fail when we were engaged, yet here we are 35 years married and still happy with each other…

remember when they were daydreaming about their lives together after they’re married, and they had very different visions of the future? Des needs to deal these two a hand of cards, quick.

The only question out of those that I think makes a difference is the music one. That is really critical. The others don’t matter much.

Yeah, it is, thanks!!! (8^D) – It was due to the “nature” of the material for last week’s arc (horoscopes, etc.). I didn’t even see an “alternate” element or subject that I could feel comfortable to discuss (personally speaking), as everything seemed to tie in to the one thing. I checked out the strips each day, and it was like: “Well, I’ll try another day!”

“Since there is a Baltimore, is there a Baltiless?^LOL! – But, y’know something? There actually is ! Well, not so much in name. But where I live (in upper Baltimore Co.) and the other surrounding counties, it is sometimes a “completely different world” (plus, the city and county only share the same name, as Balt. City [proper] is actually an independent city, akin to St. Louis, and is regarded here as “the 24th county”). Don’t get me wrong, though! Of course, ‘the burbs" are not without their problems, and the city itself is still a nice place (just like Chicago and many other cities are)… and too, some stuff is ’over-hyped" (just like people say is done for Faux/Fox and CNN and even ESPN), though some stuff isn’t…

This must have been a dream sequence – Brad says the color of his favorite sweater is plaid. All one has to do is lightly review this strip to see that Brad’s favorite color is black for shirts and sweaters, of course with the two stripes on the one arm. So unless Brad’s borrowing clothes from Gunther’s closet…

While my husband & I have lots in common, what makes our marriage great is our interests in different things. We learn from one another and we never run out of things to see, talk about, or experience something new.

I wouldn’t be so happy to find out I had little in common with my future spouse. Being compatible for the wedding isn’t that important, but being compatible for a marriage is very important. What do Brad and Toni really have in common? Besides being firefighters. Hopefully the long-delayed wedding will never actually take place. Eventually B and T will realize how poorly suited they are and drift apart.

    Certainly funner questions than:

“What religion do you believe in, if any?”

“What political party best represents your personal views?”

“Do you want children or no children?”

“If you’re having children and have different political and/or religious views, whose belief system will take precedence in raising the kids?”

“If having children, who will be the primary care giver? You, a daycare, a nanny, or_____?”

“Will holidays be spent privately at home, hosting family or visiting family? Which holidays and whose family?”

“All who invested their time, money, futures into the area, are the losers.”^That was the #1 thing many of us had said… the ones doing the damage will be some of the main ones “crying and complaining” when they have to travel even further for things, among other more serious issues! – A true example of “cutting off your nose to spite your own face” !!!!!

“There’s a better way to deal with things like that, in my humble opinion.”^Yes, you’re right…. and it’s true, for many other things in general. But for me, personally, when it comes to that particular issue, it wouldn’t have been. For me, it wasn’t just some issue of “discomfort”, as if it were just Celine Dion rapping over the store radio, that I’d have to “bear up” with, until I was done shopping (LOL!!!!) . For me, It is more so a direct issue dealing with what I’ve learned is displeasing to God (from my own personal study). If it were perhaps just a brief “side joke” and there was something else that the arc was on for this week, then yes, I feel I would have been able to “bypass” that one thing. But the whole week seemed to focus on it, as though the arc was almost giving credence to it, which I myself did not want to do… for me, the whole matter of “future telling, horoscopes, etc”. isn’t a “light” one. -That’s why I had mentioned in my comment on Monday, that I was all set with a list of “titles”, and I also was going to comment on Luann’s usual “bouts of insecurity”, but even that seemed to be connected to it, as I started to remember that arc in Bernice’s dorm (as Seismic highlighted in that one strip on Monday), so I decided it would be best (again, in my conscience and according to my own personal religious convictions) to just “abstain” until it was done. Upon seeing Friday’s, I thought Saturday was going to change the tone and all, but alas, it didn’t.

There was one family owned sporting shoe store that operates in one of “those neighborhoods” that was “looted and sacked”. The place was a mess, and the cost of restocking and cleanup was almost going to cost a single mom with 3-4 kids her job (as they had no way to know if they’d be able to continue the business). However, they were able to “get it together”, and also with the help of some of the residents, they were able to keep the store going, and she kept her job!!!
