Ah, the agent with the papers.

Well, we see Greg has taken up his “graffitti kick” again, looking at that back wall… – And I guess it’s inevitable… Charles’ mother on “Charles In Charge”, “Rachel’s Place” on Family Matters… even the Fonz acquired a sizable share of Arnold’s… Now I guess we wait to see what Frank and Nancy name their place… – Question is, who is going to help with the clean up in the meantime? I don’t think “the Little Red Hen” is In town, at the moment… – Maybe it’s already being taken care of, though… since half of the background seems to have been “erased”, and the other half still has lines of walls, beams, floors and such…

Can’t wait until the building inspector tells them what it’s going to cost to bring the building up to code.

Wow, that was fast. Now, I wonder who that agent will be? Do we know any realtors in Pitts?

I hope Toni’s brother doesn’t want to do the first play.

Re-enter Ann Eifel? No. TJ and everyone else would veto it.
Argythree over 9 years ago
Now, if Pitts Community College was anything like the Seminole State School we have here, there would be a training program for skilled workers (electricians, plumbers and the like), and Frank could contract with them to renovate the warehouse as part of the hands-on training program. That would save money, and the supervisors in the program would make certain that everything was up to code…

Perhaps that’s “Who” the agent is…he’s with the ’Timely Lords" real estate consortium of Greater Pitts… – Not to mention that sometimes, the TARDIS can “repair itself”. Seems the warehouse is doing that part, as they all speak…

(Blue paint:) Yes, a lot of it…. – (Sonic Brushes:) Well, I’m sure they’re around, somewhere.

My, my! This project is moving along at a positively dizzying pace for this strip! Will the agent be someone we already know? Will Toni and Brad’s wedding actually be scheduled as an inaugural event?

When I do floorplans for convention center booths, with everything exactly to scale, it’s amazing how different it appears when we set up. Actual scale is one thing, public perception is another, and walking space something else entirely. I’m sure the warehouse is similar.

Good luck with getting a liquor license!

She seems to have missed one small item, who is fixing this dump up. Did Frank bother with having the structure checked out by an expert. I doubt it.

The agent might be that sleazy short guy who promised Tiffany she would become a Hollywood star.

MEANTIME, the “Agent” Is Grinning from Ear to Ear and Desperately trying to Suppress a Loud LAUGH, as She Simply Cannot BELIEVE that THESE People Were DUMB Enough to Pay THAT Amount of Money for THIS (Chortle, Chuckle, GUFFAW) “Warehouse.”

Surely it’ll all turn out OK because this is a happy family comic strip.

Because he’s acting incredibly naively, as if his better judgment has been suppressed by some sort of mid-life crisis.

Roanoke Rapids tried to build a theater like this. Great facility but no audience. City backed it and now bankruptcy all over.

I wonder if the eccentric art instructor will be the experienced manager.

FIRST – A Professional Inspection*Make sure the foundation is good, there are no termites, it’s not sitting on a fault line, it’s not a gang hangout, the sewage lines work, it’s accessible to electricity & gas. Make sure no one else has a lien on the property.*If you sign without checking it out, you deserve what you get. Frank, you and Nancy should both know this by now!

So I guess Quill’s theatrical summer didn’t work out or it was a short season.

lets me see if I understand this; Frank, who’s basically an idiot want’s to put everything at risk with a scheme that has every indication of being a bottomless money pit, something he has no experience at, AND he want’s everyone …no not just give him their permission, ., but their active participation and financial support…which apparently he just ASSUMED they want to do….BUT he can’t handle the thought of his legal age Precious little Luann having sex, SOO NO Luann, Quill can’t rent Brads old room…what an f’’’in idiot / hypocrite; I hope they rent that room to some serial killer. That’ll teach him..

Nancy needs to say exactly what the support would include.I wouldn’t agree until I heard the details of what she expected them to do.

Why would anyone think Ann is involved in real estate??She worked in a fast food restaurant. You might as well assume Mr. Fogarty is a real estate agent.
wiselad over 9 years ago
hoping manager would be the waldenbooks guy, not Ann……………. maybe agent of commercial real estate is………………. Toni’s Ex, he needs a better job than sanitation worker to support wife and kid

2I hope that Frank and Nancy will be required to get an inspection of the building before the purchase agreement goes through. And, I hope that the inspection shows some horrific structural problems that will wake Frank and Nancy up and they realize that they SHOULD NOT go through with this. IF the purchase does go through… I hope that for the sake of the story line that the massive “renovations” occur QUICKLY so we may get to other story arcs… and not have the renovations take months upon months. Even though I think it is unlikely, I am also hopeful that we switch to another arc on Monday.

Has Frank computed just how much the monthly maintenance cost (utilities, etc.), insurance, and taxes will be on this property? He hasn’t got enough money yet just to write the check for one month’s bills. Does this project have anything even resembling a viable business plan, and will it permit Frank to make enough profit to repay the loan before he dies? Or is it just a case of “Build it, and they will come”? Frank does seem to be dwelling in a field of dreams these days.

Since it seems the Saturday punchline may be the identity of the agent, It could be Tiff’s father, or Mr. Gray, or Dirk, or Anne E. Only the latter two have played much of a role here and would arouse concern.
seismic-2 Premium Member over 9 years ago
Some people take it for granted that Frank’s book is full of detailed calculations based on marketing surveys, etc., instead of guesstimates and wishful thinking. Let’s see his numbers.

The pages in “The Warehouse Plan” devoted to paying the utilities, real estate taxes, and insurance may contain lots of calculations like this.

I doubt that the agent would have a recurring role, so it really doesn’t matter who he or she is…
SactoSylvia over 9 years ago
What I’m wondering is how Frank and Nancy et al got to wander around the building without being accompanied by some sort of agent if no papers have been signed yet….
SactoSylvia over 9 years ago
plus, of course, how the building went from being useable as a public space to derelict in the space of a few months.

> He’s made a plausible envelope around which to tell a story-If by “plausible”, you mean “within a factor of 25 or so of the actual first year’s expenses”.
seismic-2 Premium Member over 9 years ago
It has to be a loan that can be obtained by someone who has only $60K cash and no collateral. Since this project will almost certainly have to cost over $1M in year one, pretty much any way you figure it, then this seems unrealistic.
seismic-2 Premium Member over 9 years ago
What do you estimate the cost to be? How do you justify that number?
Pipe Tobacco Premium Member over 9 years ago
It would be fun if Quill ends up meeting up with Dez…. perhaps even staying with her to save some cash. THAT could provide some interesting story arc fodder!
seismic-2 Premium Member over 9 years ago
We know that Mr. Gray and Mrs. Berger work together, but I don’t believe it was ever indicated that they work in real estate. I really don’t care how the agent is – well, just so long as Mr. Fogarty hasn’t started a post-retirement job managing warehouse space.
