It’s really too bad that such an innocent and benign symbol keeps getting caught up in all this unpleasantness.

But seriously, they carried the good ol’ stars and stripes at KKK rallies, too.

Nobody understands that the Swastika really represents bratwurst, biergartens, sauerbraten, Tyrolian hats, lederhosen, and oompa bands. The Nazis just hijacked it.

Every cracker state that celebrates Jefferson Davis’s birthday should also, logically speaking, have an Osama bin Laden holiday. But then, logic does get scarce south of the Mason-Dixon line………..

Flags are so romantic, in that they themselves are just made of cloth, yet serve to give hard-ons to those who shall remain deprived of reason.

Are there black people in the South that are proud of the Conferderate flag and the heritage it represents?

If only it’s meaning were that innocent, but it isn’t it’s a war flag still representing racism and a rebellion against the norther states, and I know there are many who would love to rally around it still. It’s a disgrace and needs to be in a museum.

Don’t worry, guys! When scientists find the Reas-on, the as-yet undiscovered particle that carries meaning, we’ll be able to physically excract the racism from every Confederate flag!

In 1861 the Confederacy had a different flag, the “stars and bars”. Two horizontal red bars top and bottom and a white bar in the middle. In the upper corner there was a blue square with seven stars arranged in a circle. More stars were added as other stated seceded. The battle flag with the “X” cross came later.

Nobody [except a few billion Asians] understands that the Swastika ‘really’ represents nothing German at all: the Nazis very temporarily hijacked it from Asia, where their efforts were barely noticed.

In today’s Korean maps, it marks Buddhist temples. In India, you often find it next to another Hindu holy sign, the 6-pointed star (which King David never got monopoly rights on).

Western culture is more peripheral than it thinks.

I’ll explain really slowly: They both attacked the United States. Of course bin Laden killed a bit under 3000 Americans, while Davis killed over 600,000, so the comparison does fall apart there.
