In the UK, Search and Rescue teams are volunteers and do it for free. We’re professionally trained to search and medically trained to sustain life. It’s a very fulfilling job (and does attract an odd, but wonderful, group of people).

Well, I guess he doesn’t need clothes or shelter then.

Awesome! It takes a special kind of person to do that job.

    Lynn’s Notes:

One outstanding part of the story was the role played by the Search and Rescue team. What a wonderful, resourceful, brave and caring lot they are. For a long time, we kept in touch with the men who found and helped Rod and his friends to safety. How can you thank people who risk their lives for a living? We would be forever in their debt.

Looks like Anthony from the future, popping back to save his future dad-in-law!

I was a volunteer fireman and EMT for almost 10 years combined. It’s true. When you are no longer doing it, you miss it.

Let us also be thankful for the 70th anniversary that brought about the end of the Second World War.

Most of the talk has been about President Truman’s attempt to end World War 2.
