Why didn’t he try on the clothes in the store when they were bought? What? She didn’t TAKE him? That’s beyond stupidity. (My older daughter’s Godmother is taking her and her little sister back-to-school-clothes shopping this afternoon.)
Elle is being very mean. I would never yell at my daughter in front of her friends. Creates anger and embarrassment in the child. Rightfully so! I’m sure Michael had one thing to wear the first day.
Wordplay is something I really love. The trouble is that gags like this will not translate easily into other languages. I have spoken to translators who must change the gag completely so that a punch line will make sense to their readers. A translator of comic art must therefore be a humourist and a word-smith as well.
I don’t understand why she can’t just say something like, “I know, it sucks. Doing this will help me know what you have that fits, and what things need to be returned. Afterwards you can go back to your friends.” Is it really so difficult for people to just acknowledge and validate a kid’s feelings and give them an actual reason for what they’re being told to do?
NeedaChuckleOr the old gag about grafitto on “Women Ready to Wear Clothes” on which someone scribbled, “It’s about time.” You can tell it is an old joke because now no one cares – or prefers they didn’t.
This is an excellent case for school uniforms. Not sure if Michael, or even Elizabeth wore a uniform. However, April’s school was shown with kids wearing unacceptable clothes which prompted the institution of a dress code. As a result, April was made to wear a uniform, to Elly’s great thanks.
School uniforms still have to be tried on to see if they fit or have to be shortened or what.
My mother used to buy us school clothes during her lunch breaks from work, based on the sizes we wore the year before (she’d buy one size larger) and then we had to try them on before dessert after dinner. That way she could make sure of what needed to be returned, because we all wanted dessert…
My dad always complained that the school uniforms cost too much. They were really cheaper than buying regular school clothes, he alway bought the cutrate crap and irregulars for us, so he was right. It really sucked to be me.

A gold star for your joke, Gordon.

Guys only care if it fits, and even that is negotiable.

I always love to misinterpret the sign because it makes more sense when men shop for clothes – MEN SWEAR!

Elly lost it when she told Michael to “go through his drawers” in front of his friends.

So school uniforms are “one size fits all?” I did not know that!

The one person who is always at fault for Michael’s lousy attitude? Michael.

USN1977So that’s how Harper got in with his Fürherprinzept? Today individuality, tomorrow dissent.
