There MUST be some place besides prison where people can avoid the political craziness. Any decent deserted islands out there that aren’t in the path of hurricanes?
Sadly the prisons have shared TV, and a surprising number of felons like to watch the presidential debates with an almost schadenfreudic glee: “It’s like they don’t even know how the institutions they create operate.”
“Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoonGoing to the candidates’ debateLaugh about it, shout about itWhen you’ve got to chooseEvery way you look at it you lose”
Wait, it could be a HYUGE dinosaur, T. Rump…..Although there is probably a more precise word than rump to describe it….I know, I know, this is from 2011…. He could probably run this once every election year and it would always ring true….BTW, how did those guys cut through that pipe in N.Y.? Did they have a cutting torch, a chisel? Saw? Fingernail file? And how far did they have to crawl through that nasty 2 ft wide pipe? A hundred feet? Man. I couldn’t do it……
John Oliver put the early hyping of the presidential race in perspective, he said, there are children that will be born before the election whose parents haven’t met yet.
Thank God there still IS real politics. there wasn’t in Soviet Russia, and not in Cuba. It’s people who pay no attention to politics who are the reason we’re in the trouble we’re in, now
What puzzles me about American politics is why there are only two parties? What if you don’t like either candidate? There don’t seem to be any alternatives except an ’independent" who has either no chance or no power if elected. Here we have three main parties which gives a real choice on voting day.
@ argythree, there’s one forming in the North Atlantic off SE Iceland. I don’t believe there is any of US diatribe there. However, one can’t rule out radio or internet via satellite . . .
And they laughed at the people who built underground shelters in their back yards when the fight against the Commies was with a foreign enemy.Well… who’s laughing now?
argythreeSome of the smaller ones in the Spitzbergen group would qualify – if you like cold and isolation.
MiserichordOne or more of your list might do better if the corporate media would cover them. In 2010, I ran for Texas State Board of Education on the Green Party. The only mass media coverage I got was the Dalla Snooze saying only Republicans and Libertarians were running in that district. A request for correction brought only a verbatim repeat of the lie. LWV at least covered it in their candidate survey, but most only knew about it when they read the ballot – if then. And this is the body that de facto selects the textbooks for the whole country.
@Diat60As opposed as the two main American political parties are to each other, they will see a credible third party as a mortal threat to the System That Is (I.e. them) and will join forces to prevent the upset to the incumbent (I almost said “inbred”) power system. Common enemy, you know.
You can’t get away from it. Not voting is also a choice, but to hear people talk, you are committing a sin.I feel that the sin is single issue voters and those that vote as they are told from work, union, or pulpit.

The problem is that most of the candidates are the ones who need to be locked up – and sedated.

Yes, very appropriate, back to isolation; until one of those self seeking fools decides to campaign for votes in the ‘unwashed’ free inhabitants.

He might as well stay there forever. Even after the elections, some moron will be in the White House, regardless of political affiliation.

Nice thing about satellite radio: no politixx. I’m all about the music. Oh, and no ads, either. Well worth the subscription fees.

My sentiments, exactly…except that it doesn’t help…the new campaign starts the day after the election.
