I think everyone has realized that except for Luann…

I had to think about that for a second!………As for Quill moving to NYC one day, it’s nothing Luann can’t also do – depending on the strength of their commitment when it happens.……If it happens sooner than later, then yeah. Luann could have a huge dilemma ahead of her.

If Luann moves to New York, why all the build-up on her parents’ buying the warehouse? The story-arc doesn’t curve that way.
As for Quill’s passion for New York, I’ve heard it said, “Your first week in New York, everything you ever wanted to happen to you happens. Your second week in New York, everything you never wanted to happen to you happens.” Quill hasn’t hit week two yet.

I think it falls into that category of “If you’re old enough to get it, you’re old enough that it won’t hurt you”.

You Know, THIS Seems to be an ongoing Trend Lately in the Vast Luanniverse: Two People SUPPOSEDLY Love, But One Eventually Leaves the Other to Pursue a “Career” whether it is playing “Pick Up Sticks” in Peru, or “Bombing on Broadway.”
And Furthermore….,
Heeeeey, WAIT a SECOND.
THIS Isn’t Gunther’s Mom’s House!

He said “Both?”, so there may be a chance Quill is about to give Luann a unexpected, but happy, surprise.

Chillax, guys! Nobody is moving anywhere, yet. Luann and Quill need to have some serious discussion, though; but he doesn’t seem to like to get too explicit about their relationship, which may be not a good sign for Luann….

Quill has already moved out of Gunther’s house and moving to New York.

Does Luann look a little more “developed” than previously in that last panel?

Qu: You only THINK you know what you want to do. True, Qu, you may want to move to NYC and be a Broadway star BUT.. life happens, you will grow. You are only into your first year of college— don’t get tunnel vision too soon.*Some say “focus on your career”. First, focus on learning as much, getting as much experience as you can. Maybe, like Tiff, even spend a semester teaching tots.

LuAnn used to be the apple of Quill’s eye. It appears that the Big Apple might be taking her place.

Luann has to stay in Pitt for the rest of her life, since Greg Evans needs to keep drawing the same cast of characters. When Luann is 68 she will be eating lunch at Weenie World with Bernice and Gunther, as Knute and Crystal serve them their last lunch special before they themselves retire. If Luann accompanied Quill to NYC, there would have to be a whole new set of characters. This strip’s track record in that area is rather poor.

Did you ever see a movie you didn’t like?Yes?Do you own a movie studio? No?Then according to your own logic, your opinion of that movie is invalid.

Quill’s true feelings towards Luann have been mostly unclear, when I think about it. Horny, sure, but I don’t think he’s as into her as people may think. And after relating his excitement of NY (which he was very clear about) Luann may seem a bit dull to him now.

“I wondered if Quill had picked up some horrible disease in the Big Apple. He would not be the first to do something stupid like that.”^Yeah, should make a person think…so they don’t have to worry about getting… “de wormed”…
JayBluE about 9 years ago
And I was just “fixing” to say that (or something along those lines)! Well, I could say “I’m in agreement!”, which I am.
JayBluE about 9 years ago
“Luckily there is no one here that doesn’t like any of them.”^Well, just prior to your coming along, there was an example of one who seemed to not like any of them.. N’er had a good thing to say in any of the arcs. Not Fogarty’s retirement, not Gunther and Rosa’s trip, not Delta’s farewell, not the time Brad and Toni got locked in the closet, not even the misadventures of the broken down limo.. so pretty much every single arc in the year (and twice on Sundays)…

Consider that Q is only a freshman at Moony. I’m sure he’s not going to drop out of that theatre program unless some other degree program in NYC makes itself available. So there’s another 3 years for Q and Luann to sort things out. Maybe the next set of panels will be Q and Gunther talking together in their room. It is hard to imagine a sudden exit of Q at this time, especially with the warehouse arts and theatre plan (which Q was excited about) in the making. I’m sure Greg had some reason to have Q go to NYC… maybe as a way of phasing him out… but maybe not.

“I’m guessing that many complaints over time completely overshadow the nice things once said.”^Sort of like “a needle in a haystack”. Very “pointed”, and lots of red eyes. May even make a person say: “Well, guess it’s time to get myself a new pin cushion!…Oh, and a new sewing bench. And while I’m out, maybe go pick up some milk, today…”

Would be intriguing, if Prudence were to be introduced. Would she have the appearance of what Luann fears (i.e., “Jessica Rabbit”), or a more “Ordinary Girl” (relatively speaking) look?
Airman about 9 years ago
Luann is an ensemble cast that has worked for 30 years. I can’t see the title character going to New York with a basically dull character. Now, Prudence has come up twice, once with Dez and then with Quill. I cannot see her not being some sort of factor in this. Notice on Aug 6, 3rd. panel, Gunther and Tiffany actually look at each other with feeling. Quill has not shown that kind of emotion since he came back. I can never guess what Greg has in mind, but if Luann gets dumped and Gunther has strike 2 on him, these two old friends just may lean on each other for a while. Of course, I’d also like to see how Knute and Crystal’s relationship is going. I miss them.

Drawing talent is no longer a requirement to create a kwality strip. Pastis, Adams, Price — they’ve all done it. Any syndicate editor will tell you it’s all about the writing.

Here is a totally different idea for you. GoComics has a section called ‘Sherpa’ that allows for new comics to be posted. You say that you can’t draw at all, but I’ve looked at some of those comics, and the figures are sometimes not more than stick figures. The emphasis is on the ideas, character development and plot, not the art.
Why not create a few arcs (with your own characters, not anyone else’s) and see if you can get GoComics to let you post on the Comics Sherpa site?

78 rpm records? That’s when you had to crank up the old Victrola, make sure you had a good needle, and don’t drop that big arm on the record. I still have some 45 rpms, but the 78s have gone the way of dinosaurs.

Please stay away from “bad art” and good art, and what makes art ( including cartoons) popular or desirable in any given era. I pursued that question through a couple of years of Art History and there is no real reason or formula. In the 1950’s Roger Price invented “Droodles” and the whole country went crazy. They faded just as quick. Of course, Snoopy will live forever. Greg’s art is simple, but appealing. LaCucaracha is hen scratching and offensive to me. And Prince Valiant? How can you label that a comic? So, dagnabit, puzzlewhiz, don’t get me started or I’ll never get to sleep.

True!
