I’ve never read Dune either which is why I don’t understand the joke. Don’t turn around, Paige.

Dune is an unreadable mess. There have been a few movie adaptations which can’t overcome the awfulness of the source material.

Never could get into “Dune” found the books and movies boring, started but never finished them. When I saw worm made is sand before reading what they were saying I thought of “Tremours”.

Wasn’t Duneworld originally written as a serial in Astounding Science Fiction/ Analog?

Must be a baby sand worm. Adults are MUCH bigger…

Never read the book, but saw the movie. If you’re expecting something with a lot of action like Star Wars, you’re in for a big disappointment. I actually liked it, partially because it had a different, slower aspect to it than most sci-fi movies. Interestingly, it starred Patrick Stewart (Gurney), long before Star Trek TNG.

I had forgotten about the Thumpers that were used to summon the Sand Worms.

I first read Dune when it was serialized in Analog magazine!

It’s funny how I’ve never read Dune, and yet I’m following along with all of this perfectly, regardless. :P

I’ve read the six Dune books at least 4 times each, and never get tired of them. (The fourth book, God Emperor, which was meant to be a bridge novel between two trilogies, is a bit difficult to get through, but the others are magnificent. The follow-up books by FH’s son are WEAK.) Naturally, Jason the Uber-geek is aware of them. He’s my hero. Paige should be smelling the melange and feeling the heat of the internal fires any second now. Unless she’s Sheeana, in which case the worm is waiting for orders…

“Dune” ran as two serials in “Analog”. The first was titled “Dune World” and was in three parts, up to the great betrayal and the escape of Paul and Jessica. The second was titled “Prophet of Dune” and was in five parts.

Never read the book. The movie was pretty good.

The Dune series was awesome! Too bad the movies sucked.

It’s Andre Norton, no “a” on the end..She was definitely the Queen of SF & Fantasy. The author other Authors got in line to get autographs from. (I know this from Personal Knowledge. I was counting the people standing in line because there was a 100 Person Limit on her autograph sessions and I had to tell everyone past that Hundredth peson to come back for the Next Day’s session.We ended up scheduling an “Authors Only” autograph session so people who knew her only through Correspondence could get a chance to sit and chat with her..The woman was 79 years old at the time and those sessions were Exhausting for her..

The fact that he got that Sandworm to Lean Over like that without Collapsing would Impress the Heck out of anyone in the Cement & Materials business..They’d pay Gazillions for his “Secret Formula”..

I’m surprised their sand sculpture isn’t falling apart!
