Caulfield knows of Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five” one day, but not “Free Bird” on the next..?

It’s like the ED ads say: “If you know Freebird, ask your doctor if it is safe for you to run intervals.”

‘Free Bird’ got old years ago. But leave it to Mr. Mallett to be pompous about it.

I know a synth song called “Intervals” by the B**chin’ Bajas.

Does anyone remember the billboards from the early 90’s reading “HONK If you hate Freebird” It was a nationwide campaign, put up by one of the massive radio station conglomerates.

Hey! People who like “Free Bird” can still do interval training. The song is not actually my favorite. But songs of that era are often pretty damn amazing.

Took me a long time to realize just which song was Free Bird. Not playing attention to the lyrics.

Maybe not pompous. It sounds a bit like age-bashing to me: something that has become acceptable in some circles, though it is inaccurate. There are people of “that age” who can still run intervals, just as there are young people who can’t lift themselves up off the couch.

As for me, I like Freebird, and I don’t give a tinker’s damn what anyone thinks. I also love Brubeck, Bach, the Beatles, Cole Porter, Paul Simon etc., etc., etc. I don’t give my broken wind in a windstorm who else like what unless you want to have an intelligent conversation about musical evolution. You don’t like my choices? Perhaps you can just go live your judgmental life elsewhere! What a drag to hear people denigrating other people’s musical choices. Chacun a son gout, my friends.

OH FREEBIRD! Brings back a lot of GREAT memories for me, back in the day! YES, it does!
