Once a week we meet with another couple at a diner. The other gentleman always grabs the check and tells me what I owe. I should say “used” to meet because……. A few weeks ago the wife shows up with the adult daughter hubby was not there so I took the check , told her the amount and the tip , eight dollars . She says oh no two is enough we just had hamburgers, I said "two? 20 % would be eight . OMG I thought she was stroking out when I sad 20% . She went on and on about why should I pay her to do her job and who gives me money for nothing etc. etc. . That’s it. We are done.
@ Jean ouch most of the time I go out and the tab for me is under 25 so I always leave a five . I did the same thing last night but the tab was 32. Ouch I will be caculate if it is over 25 from now on.
I’ve noticed that in some restaurants now, they have the tip suggestions calculated for you on the receipt. All you have to do is look at the chart next to the percentage (10%, 15% 20% etc) and write in the amount it shows. Makes it super easy without having to do the calculations on your own.
My son’s girlfriend tried to leave $2 for a tip when there were 8 of us eating. She seemed truly surprised that that wasn’t enough – even just for her portion.

waitress should “accidently” pour that hot coffee down his back…I never leave less than 20%, they are serving me and they work hard for their money.

I always do 20% (easy to do, two times 10%) and figure it on the original amount before senior discounts and freebies.

I just can’t understand how people can be so cheap.

The gummit taxes as if they get 15% on each check (wait staff only get paid about $2 an hour) so I always tip 20%.

Good thinking geniuses, mess with the people who serve your food. They’ll get extra floor spice now.

I usually do 20% (even at the buffet). More on holidays.
