Irving and Cathy: Why, why, why?? Cathy: We don't need all this stuff! We don't use all this stuff! We never should have bought all this stuff! LET'S PACK THIS STUFF UP ONCE AND FOR ALL AND MOVE IT OUT OF HERE!! Irving: ...To our new storage locker! Cathy: Why live with the guilt when we can rent it a nice vacation home?

I’m so glad that I’ve culled my belongings with all the moves I’ve done in my life…

Without their junk (obsolete electronic stuff for Irving, exercise equipment and too-small clothing for Cathy), these two do not exist.

I FINALLY got my hubby to throw away 3 boxes of 4.5” floppy discs!
his excuse? “you just never know, we might need these someday”
for what? target practice?

4.5”? I remember (and still have…) 5.25” and 3.5” floppies. Please specify - the museum curator will want to know…

I have guilt issues with throwing stuff into the trash. If there were a place to recycle within a reasonable distance…

I still have five trays of IBM computer cards from 1969-71, and when my old school did a story about the huge mainframe machine they used to have (total computing capacity: 20K bytes) I asked the school archivist if they want the cards. They said Yes, and they’ll pay the shipping.
I’m vindicated at last! Decade after decade, everyone said I was nuts to keep 10,000 computer cards with Fortran compilers, machine-language data etc on them!
Heaven is being a fool forever and then someone else pays the shipping costs to end it. I’m shedding a tear over them, though - cards are so bleeep tangible, compared to my boxes of 5.25inch floppies (yes, disks actually did still feel floppy then).

I can’t believe the software here actually “bleeeped” the word that means fix a hole in a sock. No 20K mainframe would ever dream of doing that.
