Also Biden and Blumenthal. But it could also belong to Helen Thomas.

I’m waiting for the politician who says, “I am a crook & I did lie to you, but you’ll elect me anyway.” Some one that honest would probably win by a land slide, proving once again, that the US is NOT ready for self government. King George was right.

Be that the CBS “eye” before the name? And it appears to be riding awfully high out of the water. When I was a lad, “misspeaking” was called lying.

ChuckTrent64………….I would settle for a politician that turned around and actually said “Sorry, I made a mistake but I have learned from it”. Or even “That policy didn’t work, we will try a different approach”.

II do not care where you live, nobody is prepared for self government. The U.S. government may be bad but it is not alone and all of them are working together against US.

Kinda odd that Miller decided to draw the boats floating on the tips of their keels rather than using a POV that would allow the gag to work in proper perspective.

When I first glanced at it, I missed the eye and thought “Miss Poke”, which still means that it belongs to a politician.

Now don’t say anything about Blumenthal. It’s hard to tell a 6 month Reserve training from a 12 tour in Vietnam. The man said he mispoke, then he mispoke. Hope when (if) he gets elected he doesn’t mispeak “Yea” for “Nay”.

Seems to be an epidemic of “false military service memory syndrome” going on. One of the senatorial candidates here in Ill-Annoy just got caught claiming he had personally won some distinguished award, when in fact it had been given to the entire unit he was in (his role in earning it was unclear). Not quite as bad as the guy who told stories about combat in Vietnam when he was actually in the reserves Stateside, but still, likely enough to balance out the stories about his opponent’s involvement with a failed bank…

(Sigh) Remember when politicians boasted about their accomplishments rather than constantly trying to minimize their embarrassments?

(Another sigh)…and the spam rolls in–everybody, push the “Flag” button NOW.

Like Bush strutting in a flight suit when he used the reserves to dodge real service in Nam? Or declaring victory on the deck of the air craft carrier how many years ago? Like that kind of “misspeaking” Lew? Or they could swiftboat a guy who actually served. That particular set of misspeaking (lies) worked well, too.

Or he could have misspoke about his mistress in South America or his footsie in the boy’s room or his milk fund money or…

As usual, Mr. Wiley has taken a nice centerist jab at both sides and is likely laughing himself silly as the pols dive in to declare him one of “theirs”.

Blumenthal wasn’t so bad… in the same speech in which he slipped, he also correctly labeled his service as “during” the war. Heat of the moment, enthusiasm, I can relate:

Biden is my hero: I have the same tendency to say just that one sentence too much. They keep me away from the customers.

Could be Mark Kirk’s boat, seeing as how he “misremembered it wrong” when he bragged about military awards he didn’t receive…

Yeah, I like when Biden misspeaks and he can just blame it on the person he stole the speech from in the first place.

Down here in Oz the leader of the opposition actually gave himself a lifetime “out” on misspeaking by saying (and I paraphrase): “Don’t believe anything I say off the cuff as it might be complete lies - only believe me when I have a script and a media liaison handy”. How’s that for honest?!?

I think Helen Thomas said she “mispoke.” I don’t think she was lying – I think she simply spoke her mind – and in today’s “gotcha politics” that’s not allowed.
