I took my daughter & her kids to dinner and was going to order a calamari appetizer. I asked her if the kids liked it, she said they’d never tried it. I ended up having to order a second plate, they scarfed it down so fast.
My boss took a group of us, including me & my 2 daughters (my husband had to work) out to eat. My girls were around 8-10 years old. My boss had ordered calamari. When it came, my older daughter asked what it was & he said, “Calamari”. She asked, “But what IS it?” Before either he or I could answer, someone else in our party said, “Seafood.” She LOVES seafood, so she asked to try it; her little sister asked, “Me, too?” They ended up scarfing half of his appetizer. The next day I asked the girls if they told Dad what they tried, and they told him, “We had calamari!” Mr. Blunt responded, “Oh…you had squid?” to which they both responded with a hearty, heartfelt, “EEEWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!” I reminded them how much they liked it, and they were like, “Oh, yeah!!!” After that they gladly admitted to having Squid.

It is a teaching moment. Take advantage of it. She is actually asking what are the choices. She might learned to like the new to her, foods.
