The Born Loser by Art & Chip Sansom Gladys: You look awfully serious about whatever you're doing! Brutus: Our spending has been out of control lately and it has really put us in a hole! Brutus: Starting immediately, we need to go on a strict budget... Brutus: No more extravagant purchases. We can only afford the necessities! Gladys: Can you give me an example of an extravagance and a necessity? Brutus: Well, for example, a designer purse is an extravagance... Brutus: And the all-league football package on cable TV is a necessity!

I too watch an hour of football a year….if the highlights they show on the morning news add up to sixty minutes over the course of the season.

Brutus nails it…Personally, I spend far less than an hour watching purses.

I’m about as far from a sports fan as you can get but on my cable bill they charge me and extra dollar for sports access. When I called the company and complained about the charge I was told it was a standard charge on all bills so they wouldn’t have to charge extra to people who actually watched sports. When I complained that I never watched sports and would prefer to have sports removed from my package I was told that everyone got the minimum sports package and the minimum charge no matter how much or how little sports they watched.

Well, I am a female, but I have to agree with Brutus. To heck with the designer purse, GIVE ME MY NFL!

@Doctor Toon:
If you recently signed up for DIRECTV, the NFL Sunday Ticket package is free.The reason it just showed up on your bill is because the NFL season just started last week. You shouldn’t be getting charged for it though, that is if you are a new customer.

for me personally the extra’s are what de-stresses me enough to keep going to work.
My ex never let me have any extra cash for anything, I couldn’t hold a job more than a year or two, my current spouse plans and goes on vacations with me twice a year and allows a little extra. Been at same job for more than a decade now.
