Hey, for one panel there, I thought Rat really had the right idea.BTW, rightwingpatriot, in the eyes of the law and government, corporations ARE persons. And it’s wrong.

If corporations are people, they are psychopaths and sociopaths. And if corporations are people, they should not be permitted to own other corporations — because Lincoln freed the slaves.

I’m with Rat on this one. A business is not a religion or a charity. It’s only purpose is to MAKE A PROFIT! The only reason a business practices ethics is because the govt makes them! The Republicans are trying to rectify that!

Really? How about some verifiable figures to back that up. The poor are not productive? Have you never heard of the “working poor?” Do you understand that income taxes are not the only tax? Do you know what progressive taxation is? The ’50s were one of the most prosperous periods this country ever experienced. The income tax was much higher then.

States could recall corporate charters and reissue them requiring social and environmental responsibility, in addition to generating a profit for shareholders. But the legislatures are owned by corporations.

Corporations are not people, the simply are conduits through which things flow. They are neither good nor evil. People, however, can be good or evil, and the corporation reflects the goodness or evilness of the people who own then and the people that work for them. If there were no corporations the people that are evil would still be evil. They would just do it in some other way. If you doubt that, look back at history, to a time before corporations. If anything, corporations are a moderating influence on evilness because the corporation reflects multiple people rather than having just a single power source.

A corporation is a legal entity (and if we were being honest we could call it a legal fiction……..)

From the way it started I thought Rat was talking about Hilary Clinton.

Corporations are organizations of people, run by people for various goals, often profit. How they are run depends on the ethics of the people running them, like every other thing in this world.

These Dow Jones gamblers never are distinctA crowd of bulls or bears each in their turnThey travel in a flock of herd instinctAnd drink their tea and fiddle while we burn

And while our backs were turned the brand-new StandardHas made us Poor: we can’t afford farm pondsThe housing bubble and the dot.com dastard? The fault, dear Brutus, lies in our junk bonds

But now these Dow Jones lemmings head for cliffsComputer sell-off programs join the frayAnd I am far too gloomy for jazz riffsThough possibly wise heads will win the day

Behold, thou: though economy is crassThou must needs know that even this shall pass

Dear Corporation Protesters. Everything on this website is the result of a corporation. Corporations publish this panel. The artist gets paid from those corporations. Corporations enable this website. Corporations enable the internet. Corporations built the machines with which you are viewing this. If you think corporations are evil, etc., suggest a better, working, scheme.

I will try to answer all the responses to my first post.
I have only worked for private business during my working career, except for the public library during college and the US Census Bureau on a temporary basis. Most of these businesses were or are publically traded.
As for the US Supreme Court decision, one has to examine it closely. Does a corporate entity not have Constitutional rights? And if it does, does it have the right to discriminate? Can a publically traded company identify itself as being of a certain religion and therefore discriminate against those who do not follow that religion?
As for the meaning behind my original post, Rat plans to incorporate himself and rats are vermin; not too complicated.

Why do lefties think that a big government will behave any differently from a big corporation? (besides the fact that they can put you in jail or shoot you if they don’t like you)
