Talk about your “great moments in phallic portraiture”… that guy has all his oars in the water.

For those too young to remember the 60’s-70’s when there was still hitch-hiking in this country, that was a popular bumper sticker the meaning of which was apparent and obvious. Haven’t seen that saying, or hitch-hiking for that matter in decades so perhaps everyone is not familiar.

A somewhat enlarged image can be found at the only work, by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog (yesterday). Again, it is a cropped image (no signature at lower left). A less cropped (still no signature), click-to-enlarge image can be found, starting here.Zu Spät (Too Late) is privately owned (has full image, with signature to the right of lowest left rock — trust me).I say trust me, because it depends on the browser you use. For me anyway, both Chrome and Safari show a decent size image; but, FireFox and Opera (I don’t have Internet Explorer) both show a nearly thumbnail size image. If you try to enlarge (⌘-+ on a Mac, Ctrl-+ on a PC) the small image, it becomes pixelated quite soon (before it gets to the size of the clear image shown by Chrome or Safari — I’m puzzled as to why). The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).First work, by this artist (currently, what’s in boldface at the start, is repeated and more readable below it), to appear here.

Her portside oar is blocked from view, but also trailing in the water.

The nice thing about the Jamaican Marine Corps gillie suit was that it was so smokable!

markmoss1A boat that small needs no rudder, but with two rowing can make good speed – like a two, no cox, racing vessel. The rig is quite common throughout the world, although I admit I had no occasion to model one when at a maritime museum..Despite presenting profile to the unfortunate client, her feet are facing aft and she should sit down and help with the propulsion.
