Coming Soon đ At the beginning of April, youâll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Donât forget Robert Blake. Like OJ, he was found not guilty with the criminal charges but he was nailed by the civil suit. So both bad âactorsâ half-succeeded â although I will admit beating a criminal rap is more important.
Flight Suit, I disagree. I started following this strip on an everyday basis late in 2009. Iâve seen three story arcs in their entirety: the circus one, the concert one and this one.
âSimpson was famously acquitted in 1995 of the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, but was found liable for their deaths in a civil trial in 1996.
âAs a result, he was forced to auction off his sports trophies and collectibles to help pay off the $33.5 million awarded to the Goldman family.â
Thatâs why OJ is sitting in prison now. He was desparate for cash â or at least getting back his trophies â because of the civil suit. I remember Ron Goldmanâs dad making this observation on TV,
Also, if OJ and Blake both won their civil suits, then most people would think that each one was probably innocent. But losing a civil suit does leaves a cloud of suspicion.
âCriminals never succeed.â I remember reading many times in DT years ago the phrase âcrime doesnât pay.â I think people have pretty well abandoned that philosophy these days. Drug pushers and other criminals have pretty well proven that crime does indeed pay. In fact, unfortunately, it pays very well.
I Think you might find a few exceptions to our unusual Friday âZitpickerâs Notebookâ in Washington, DC. Matter-of-fact, look at the current South Carolina Senate race! Crime pays well, if you have a little luck to go with it!
I want to put a little thought in everybodyâs minds for later. You know Iâm as much of a critic of this drivel as anybody. But Iâve seen the next few weeks of strips, including the first week or two of the next storyline, and I am cautiously optimistic that the artwork is about to get a lot better. It seems a lot more consistent and less like it was done by the runner-up in a third grade art class contest. Itâs almost as if Locher is handing the drawing duties over to Brozman, instead of Brozman just filling out Locherâs sketches. We shall see.
The writing, on the other hand, thatâs another story.
Remember the old âThe Shadowâ radio broadcasts of yesteryear? The end of the prologue to each new radio adventure was (as I recall):âThe weed of crime bears bitter fruit. Crime does not pay; the Shadow knows!â This was followed by his deep baritone laugh.
If you go to Audible.com you pay $7.50 a
month for an introductory period during which you can download as many Shadow radio programs as you can for
less than a dollare each. A handful of Shadow and Space Patrol programs are available for free if you Google the titles and the word âfree.â
This was a public service announcement. The Shadow
series created half a century ago was very well crafted
with Lamont Cranston (The shadow) very human and vulnerable and aided by the beautiful Margo Lane.

Criminals never succeed??
Anyone hear of O.J.??
Oh yeah, Iâm way off base.
FLIGHT SUIT over 14 years ago
This is Locherâs most inane plot twist to date!
And thatâs saying something!
Heâll have to really work hard to come up with something more inane for the next story arc, but I have faith that he will succeed.

Maybe by the end of next week weâll get to see Blankâs face.

Panel 2: I want day-glo bandages like DT!
And why did JB/the Blank put this mask back on? He doesnât want to be seen in this strip? I donât blame him.
And why does Tracy want to know if JB was in Cahoots with Anja Nu when they made their plans? Why not Fond du Lac or Sheybogan?

PPâŚâŚâŚI donât think OJ coughed up a dime in that civil suit, did he??
Roger Smith over 14 years ago
Good point PP. Those would have been good locations.
Barticle35 - isnât that called overkill?
On DTâs bandages, maybe we can call it a wrap? We hope.

And as we all know: nothing says âaccidentâ like a fatal gun shot from a good distance.
And wasnât Anjaâs previous plan to pin the blame on Johnny Nothing? How would that make her look like Tracyâs accidental killer?

Easily the worst was the circus one.

I did a quick Google and found this:

(Sorry for getting off topic, DT fans.)

Clearly in panel 2 we see Tracy is a user of the Maybelline eyelash lengthener. After all these years, that sly devil still has his secrets.
