I guess, calling it “Rat Channels the Spirit of Heath Robinson” just wouldn’t be funny.

I believe a shark has been jumped. But I still love ya, Stephan.

I’ve never met a pun I liked and Steven’s are especially egregious. (Throws newspaper away.)

Yesterday set up the premise, panel 1, aka “(A)”

This reminds me of the old commercials for Direct TV: When your cable’s on the fritz, you get frustrated. When you get frustrated your daughter imitates, when your daughter imitates, she gets thrown out of school, when she gets thrown out of school, she hangs out with un-desirables, when she hangs out with un-desirables, she ties the knot with an undesirable, when she ties the knot with an undesirable, you get a grandson with a dog collar…Don’t have a grandson with a dog collar.

And Rat wants to yell about him making puns? After this pun strip Rat should apologize to Stephan.
punsmakethewordsgoround over 9 years ago
having rat as a distractor was good!

What abort the Bert’s lawyers who sue Stephan for wrongful death with an enhancement of poor punny business?
BumptiousQBangwhistle over 9 years ago
Surprised by the negative comments. I liked this one, an alternate take on his usual puns. Plus I like the circular nature of it. Isn’t this where / we came in.

I rather enjoy puns. Wordplay always makes me smile.
Canuckguy over 9 years ago
Are the detractors being facetious? I read this strip every day and chuckle.

I love the puns.

PBS is in the local paper, but I read it here. I hardly ever throw my computer across the room, hitting random cats, though.

Heck, I read this comic just for the pun strips.

The pun is a high form of art!
thetraveller4 over 9 years ago
Instead of complaining, people who don’t like puns should simply not read this strip…almost everybody knows that PBS is full of them, so let pun lovers enjoy and, pun haters, go to the next strip!

Thus illustrating that there are no temporal anomalies, only eddy currents in the alternating flow of time.

I’m not a rube, I, sir, am a maroon.

It’s a good thing Cartoon Boy spoofed himself, because that spares me the necessity of coming up with some fitting rebuke here. Plus, this strip has the bonus value of revealing some of Cartoon Boy’s “creative” process. Maybe we should steal the newspapers off his and Staci’s famous front porch….

Puns used to be my guilty pleasure. PBS has brought them so high, or me so low, that I no longer feel guilty.
legaleagle48 over 9 years ago
Yes, he should be drawn and quoted.

Out of all the horrible puns, this one isn’t half bad.

It made me laugh out loud – the thrown newspaper in the last panel was just icing on the cake.

I didn’t know the note E could have that effect.

of course, this hinges on people actually knowing about rube goldberg- a minority at this point, i suspect

This was wonderful! Long live the puns!

which in my twisted mind begs the question – has pastis ever done a pun that NOBODY liked? i think not. maybe some uninformed or unappreciative pun critics but not EVERYBODY. some have been baaadd, but even then there is at least one person that likes it. :)should be ‘like’ buttons on go comics just to see.

When I saw Rube Goldberg I knew to prepare for something baaadddd.

Comparing anything no matter how lame to Directv’s commercials is not valid. They have had the worst ads on TV for several years. I recently switched to DISH just so I don’t have to put up with them anymore. Just stupid.

Rat, you’re just as bad a Stephan.
