Mrs. Olsen: Any questions? Caulfield: Can we learn about Anemone anatomy? Frazz: I didn't know that interested you. Caulfield: Hearing her try to pronounce it on a high coffee-intake morning interests me.
Somehow, today I want to give our precocious little trickster a sound little whack. For all his smarts, he could be headed for an anarchical life. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.” That’s the show it’s beginning to sound like.
I hate to admit it, and I have said this of others here, but I actually see a lot of myself in Caulfield. I wish I was half as smart at his age that he seems to be, but I do like to push other people’s buttons. I thought 2 things when I read this, 1, haha, this is funny, and 2, Agewalker’s 1st comment.
I know where you’re coming form BP, but I did get a chuckle out of this one.
He’s just bored. He doesn’t act with any ill intent, and simply enjoys making Mrs Olson think on her toes.Anyway, like I’ve said before, I like caufield because I wish I could have used the tactics he does to deal with the dictator policies of my fourth grade teacher and principle.
Schools that try to have programs for more intelligent students get hit with PC stupidity for ‘making the other kids feel like they’re not as smart’ or some such foolishness. So, we have bored smart kids in the one size fits all classrooms. While it is too much to expect school to be fun, it could at least be less institutional. However, since so many resources are being used to lift up the less able (either due to actual lower intelligence or not speaking the language [and yes, that does involve immigration – deal with the facts]) there are few left over to help the Caulfields.

How long did Caulfield have to practice that to avoid being the butt of his own joke?

If Mrs. Olsen were smart, she’d say “No” and leave it at that.
