Got to see it once again. The last time I saw it I was 18, standing on the front porch of my first apartment watching the moon turn red while the radio played Asia’s first album to death, ushering in the era of corporate rock and turning it into a bland corporate mechanism.Meanwhile, Roy batty is going to look for Moon Mice..
Gosh that is a beautiful picture, thanks, Woof has always been my favourite! XXX I did get up at 4.45am but I guess it was a bit too early, I went back to bed & this morning heard that the best view was at 5.15!!!
We could see a lot of it from inside our house. But, yeah, you had to go outside to get the full effect. Big bright moon was shining in our bedroom windows this morning. Fantastic pictures Last Rose of Summer.
I thought about it all day, my son even has a telescope. Until 10:11 pm “rolled around” we were busy watching the Broncos beat the Detroit Lions. It had been very cloudy earlier, so hopefully it stayed that way.
Eclipse was well advanced by the time it got through the Vancouver fug, a dim red crescent. Two hours later it was high and brilliant with only a little nibble out of the top corner.
Im waiting for the next solar eclipse. Its is supposed to make landfall where i live.I was told by an astronomy teacher that was doing a blog about it that we should be able to see the shadow of the moon race across the sea at us.…weather permitting…
I could see it in Lubbock TX, although I didn’t notice much red. We stood outside with the neighbors until it was totally covered. It uncovered while I was walking the dog – he was not impressed!
As the great poet Yeats is buried 2 miles down the road from where I live I would like to contribute this re telling of this beautiful poem.☺♥
THE CAT AND THE MOON
by: W. B. Yeats (1865-1939)
HE cat went here and thereAnd the moon spun round like a top,And the nearest kin of the moon,The creeping cat, looked up.Black Minnaloushe stared at the moon,For, wander and wail as he would,The pure cold light in the skyTroubled his animal blood.Minnaloushe runs in the grassLifting his delicate feet.Do you dance, Minnaloushe, do you dance? When two close kindred meet,What better than call a dance?Maybe the moon may learn,Tired of that courtly fashion,A new dance turn.Minnaloushe creeps through the grassFrom moonlit place to place,The sacred moon overheadHas taken a new phase.Does Minnaloushe know that his pupilsWill pass from change to change,And that from round to crescent,From crescent to round they range?Minnaloushe creeps through the grassAlone, important and wise,And lifts to the changing moonHis changing eyes

It was after 3am here in the UK, so I didn’t stay up or get up to see it, I’m afraid. I do remember seeing (and photographing) one back in Boston many years ago.

Couldn’t see it East Coast covered in clouds. Guess I’ll have to wait until 2033. I liked the pictures but it just isn’t the same.

It was cloudy here in Houston and raining slightly. I guess I’ll have to wait for the next one too. Maybe they’ll show it on the news tonight.

Is that really your photo? Fantastic! It was cloudy here. I did see the last one in the 1980’s though. Not that big though.

@*Eldo*, are those rain drops on the camera lens? Or multiple pink moons?
