I realize that this is mean to be a humerous editorial cartoon. But jealous of what? Water that NASA says would be far saltier than the Salton Sea of California?

The Lander was looking for the chemicals that might reveal life was present. It was not looking for life itself.The presence of methane on Mars is indicative of microbial life.
