Just said basically the same thing about the “Dick Tracy” Team, but I love Jim Scancarelli’s version of Gasoline Alley honoring those creators & characters who have come before!
This is like a bit that Abbott and Costello used to do; Bud would believe that Lou had been killed and start to agonize over the way he’d always treated him, promising that he would never be mean to Lou again if he’d only had another chance. Lou would turn out to be alive, and Bud, after a brief moment of disbelief, would say, “You little double-crosser!” and smack him in the face.
Jeff knocked over the “11/5” date indicator! It’s a kind of sneaky way of “breaking the fourth wall” in a sense, although not to the extent that Jeff is aware of the audience or something like that.
@PipeTobacco wrote late yesterday:I am glad too! Although I would have said…. “The color is finally back!” :)“You say to-MAY-to, and I’ll say to-MAH-to.” Anyway, the strips all the way back to Monday are done now, for anyone wanting to re-read them. (I don’t say “to-MAH-to,” by the way, though my grandfather did when he was alive.)
This is a great, great story arc. Not ready to see Walt cross over yet, as it were. But these occasional visits with the legends are definitely most welcome.

Too bad the creator of “Mutt & Jeff” isn’t alive so he could get together with Jim to create a crossover cartoon like the “Phantom” and “mary Worth/”

Scancarelli’s losing it, maybe. He’s sure done better with the old cartoon character’s home.
