Liberace wasn’t a heterosexual!!?? No, say it ain’t true. I mean everyone know Jagger goes both ways, but a macho image like Liberace? Next thing you know someone will claim other rockers like Freddy Mercury (Wonder how they named the band?) isn’t a ladies man, or Lou Reed is telling the truth in his lyrics.
I now know that talent is a direct result of sexual orientation. Thanks JOE, I always thought some people were talented. Guess the TV’s right, Sex is everything. If I was worrying about my immortal soul, I wouldn’t think physical
Hey Joe-Allen, don’t be discouraged. I enjoy your reminiscences. I used to live in Wichita Falls, TX and enjoy your Oklahoma stories. Keep on keepin’ on.
I went to USAF EDP tech school at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls in the late spring of ‘64.
I remember seeing a used Mercedes-Benz 300SL convertible for sale at a car lot there for $5,500. Lot of $$ then, but now it’d be worth nearly 100 times that.
Also, got to observe the worst tornado in 10 years while I was there. It devastated an old hospital on the base - the patients had been moved to a new one only a week or so before. It ravaged a base housing area, killing something like 10 people - they pulled a Sergeant out of the rubble 10 days later. We spent two weeks policing the area - there wasn’t a square foot of land that wasn’t covered with multiple pieces of torn-up check stubs, mattress fluff, splinters and other debris. I’ll never forget it.
I went to USAF tech school at Sheppard AFB Dec-65 till April-66. Used to hear tells of the tornado that came through. Being from Southern California I thought it got pretty cold there. Then my first base was K I Sawyer AFB in Northern Michigan and my last assignment was Osan AB South Korea. I found out what cold was.
JOE I hope you see this. Why do you talk about your and others sexual orientation. No body else does. You read every one of today’s comments and except for yourself, not one declares their sexual orientation. Why is it so important. Political, religious, or ethical orientation is a heck of a lot more important. Why do you keep shouting, “I’m different and if you don’t think like me, you have a problem.” You are the man with a problem, 67 years old and have to tell the world to change to your alternative lifestyle.
The majority of heterosexuals accept everyone.
If “all of us heterosexuals” means only the minority who can’t accept that good people vary, then of course it’s that “all of us heterosexuals” are mistaken.
The best way to outgrow this mistake is the same way the majority of America has outgrown it since the 1950s - by getting to know and appreciate enough gay people personally.
Until we all speak up for each other, it will remain important for them to speak up for themselves.
I think Justin Bieber might be downright astonished at being lumped together with Lady Goo-Goo, Liberace and Elvis impersonators. Although he may well think Lady Gaga is a hoot; I have no idea.
Thank God at least he has songwriting talent, and apparently has had for years. I’d rather the kids idolized him than Miley Cyrus, even though she has perfoming talent herself.
