Is it much further Poppa Smurf?
Not far now.
time passes.
Is it much further Poppa Smurf?
YES IT IS!!
The last time my daughter started asking that on a road trip, I just told her āyesā. I didnāt hear the question again although we were on the road for two more hours.
Mom should have brought something for the kids to keep them busy. When we traveled, now not, we had hand held games and extra battaries for our two when they where young. Then they would take napes.
Thatās when I started teaching my kids to read maps. (Or at least look at a clock and calculate the time left.) One road trip we put a flat screen monitor in the back where the kids were, so they could watch the GPS screen. (Ours run on a laptop computer.) Of course, I tried to make sure they brought reading materials & toys to pass the time. Now I check an audio book out from the library to make the time pass quicker. They still need something to do with their hands, so if they get too bored they have to take a turn at the wheel. Aaah, the advantages of having kids old enough to drive!
I usually answer the question in terms of a meal, like āweāll get there after dinner.ā Of course, then the next question is āwhenās dinner?ā LOL Time to learn how to tell time, Michael!
We always left in the middle of the night so daughter would sleep, after stopping for breakfast out would come the gamesā¦ the license plate game, how many VW bugs, I spy, the ABC gameā¦ before she knew it we would be there. Oh, of course on the way to Orlando we added the count the signs for South of the Border LOL

My father used to say, āThe longer you keep quiet, the sooner weāll get there.ā

Without the kids, it would probably take 2 hours.
