Danae: I'm off to an archeo-logical dig to unearth artifacts of a prehistoric culture...ok?
Ned: Um...ok...
Danae: Ok, then...I'm off to the basement!
Ned: Mm-hmm. Uh...prehistoric?
Kate: Her scale is anything that predates the internet.
I remember those ancient days, we used to go to this place called “outside” all the time. It was really sunny and warm and there were tons of things to do and see…I wonder what ever happened to it?
Sort of like ESPN. Sports didn’t exist before the inception of that network, especially basketball. Magic? Larry? Wilt? Bill? You mean M.J. didn’t invent basketball?!
@macky87 and @Apikoros,I have 45 adapters, 45’s, 78’s, 10 inch 33ep’s, 7 inch 78’s, 8 track carts and recorders, playtapes and playtape players (playtape was a fad in the late 60’s that never caught on, I got mine used at yard sales), reel to reel tape decks both 7 and 10 inch most with 3 heads and some with 3 motors, 3 lazerdisc players 2 of which have digital sound capability, 4 beta decks and beta tapes, over 20 VHS decks most with HI-FI stereo sound, a professional DAT deck, 5 CD recorders 3 of which are professional and will record on data CD’s. I used to have a wire recorder but I sold it after transferring the audio to cassettes. Oh yes, I have numerous cassette decks 5 of which are 3 head.
You should have seen me try to explain an old Bakelite rotary telephone to a twenty-something recently. And she is highly intelligent. However watching a young teenager try to put envelopes in the mailbox was hilarious! And his mother dis not get out of the car to help him, either. We just watched him work it out for himself. Obviously “snail mail” was not something he’d had experience with.
Of course, conversely, I pretty much call everyone under 30 years old kids….. -————Chickens are related to T-Rex, go figure. I wouldn’t worry about Jurassic Park happening. The oxygen content on earth was much higher when the dinosaurs were walking the planet. It would be plausible that they wouldn’t be able to survive the earths current atmosphere. At best, they may survive, but would be easily winded, or perhaps just wouldn’t be able to grow as large.
Archeologists of the future when unearthing a typical American house and examining the contents of the bedroom closet will come to the following conclusion: ancient man was bi-pedal; ancient woman was centipedal.
Or as my niece is fond of saying, “There is no such thing as too many shoes.”
Bruno ZeigertsWe have a small 78 collection. A couple decades ago, we tried to find a turntable for all disk speeds and the reaction was as though we wanted a cylinder player. Finally found a totally new one in a pawn shop(!)
Most “primative” cultures had separate defined roles for male and female. North American plains tribes, men were warriors, but women declared and ended wars. The only one I have found with total equality (Scythian) were one of the more formidable warriors of their time and probable basis of both Amazons and centaurs (“man and horse are as one” and the “as” got lost in repetition).

Try and explain what a 45rpm record is to a 10 yr. old kid if you really want to get a strange look.

Maybe it is Danae who is almost ancient. Obviously Kate is way ahead of her.
Reminds one of a sister-in-law who will not stop referring to some neighbors as ‘you people’.

That’s probably better than trying to dig the Panama Canal down there.

I always remember when my grandson ( now 20 ) was small and refused to watch black and white movies because they were: " For fake ! " ( His words ).

They wouldn’t know how to deal with the early Internet, though…
