Annie – I know exactly how you feel. But it’s all worth it to know they’re safe and warm and have food and water.

It was a sad, sad day. I don’t much feel like posting pictures of funny cats.

    Nite.

Strangely enough, on a Saturday, November 14, 1970, at Marshall University, in Huntington WV, where I was a Junior, a DC 9, with the entire University football team came in for a landing at the airport in the rain and fog without the landing assists we take for granted today. The pilot must have seen traffic passing just below him on the Interstate because the throttles were rammed forward and the jet was nose up and climbing when the jet slammed into the ridge beside the interstate. There were no survivors. School reopened in December. Marshall didn’t have a winning season until the 1980’s.

Not helping kiddo. I hate flying and I have to fly at Christmas. Tried to get out of it, but couldn’t. I am always glad to get back home.My heart aches for Paris and all of mankind. Why do humans have to be the worst creatures on this earth. We need more Annies, Grahams, and Queens among a few others. Just wish they weren’t so few.

So horrible, the events in Paris. And it will only hurt everyone they are “supposedly” doing it for, not “help” them. Killing just begets more killing, and adds to more fear and animosity toward more innocent people. The people who perpetrate these atrocities and convince other people to help them perpetrate them are nothing but pure evil and stupidity. My heart goes out to all the people affected by these events.

Update on Dabdoob: he’s doing well with his wounds/incisions, the cone is off and he can clean himself to his heart’s content. Now that the cone is off, his brother doesn’t want to leave him alone. But my husband tells me that now he’s back to avoiding the litter box, sigh. I wish I was there to help try to re-train him, but last weekend I had to come to Wisconsin to help my dad recover from knee replacement surgery, I’m here until he’s able to get around on his own, drive again, able to go to his basement to do his own laundry, etc. He’s struggling right now, the swelling is making it hard for him to bend his new knee, and going from the family room to the bathroom is still pretty exhausting for him. He starts physical therapy on Monday, though – I’m hoping that will begin to help his range of motion. I imagine the change of my not being home isn’t helping Dabdoob’s litter box issues. Too many things going on all at once this fall/winter. Day before I was leaving to come to Wisconsin, we had to move my mother-in-law to a new nursing home – she had been on a wait list for a transfer to this nursing home, & they called us Thursday to tell us a bed was available for her, which meant we had to move her Friday (if you don’t move them that fast, they give the bed to someone else, and you have to go back to the bottom of the waitlist), so spent the whole day moving her, her stuff (3 or 4 trips with the car), and getting her settled in and filling out all the paperwork again. Then I was up all night Friday night trying to pack and organize the house prior to leaving (flight was at 6:45 am Saturday morning, so had to be there by 4:30/4:45, airport was INSANE, barely made it to my flight – they were already boarding by the time I made it through customs, security & to the gate). Then poor Dabdoob was stressed out from all the activity, I think, & while I was trying to do things around the house, he pee’d all over the dining room floor, sigh. But when my husband took him for his checkup at the vet on Thursday, the vet said everything should be all good physically with Dabdoob now. So now we need to work on the psychological again.

Regarding cones worn after surgery: I talked to a lady at PetCo yesterday who has a dog that hated the cone. (what pet DOESN’T hate it)? She cut up a small t-shirt and fit it over the head and put his front paws thru the arm holes. She said it worked great. She also somehow used tape around his middle to keep the shirt in place, without using the sticky tape on his fur. As she was telling me this, I was picturing it and it made sense. As I type this, I know I’m missing some part of it, but you all get the idea. Next time one of ours needs a cone, I’m going to try it.

There will be 2 kittens next weekend but I’m hoping Susan can sneak them out of the shelter this week and get them to me. The went to get fixed on Thurs and will come back today, I think

Yes, yes, Annie….it is always the same with kitties. But you love it…admit it. We all do.@Staracat: Your report about your Dad, MIL and Dabdoob was an eye opener. Hope they are all well soon. Do try that cat litter. Dab does seem to be stressed.

Big News! Ruby has just come out into the living room for the first time!! The other 4 cats are all in here sleeping and she is exploring! I have brought her out several times (always risking getting shredded by those claws) and she just runs back into the bedroom. Very excited! There is hope after all that I can keep the bedroom door open at night so everyone can come and go as they please….

Thanks for the pitch – “Red Stuff” is always needed, particularly during the holiday season..My wife & I give every 8 weeks.Lifetime, I’m somewhere on the long side of 10 gallons – I’ve quit counting..If you can give, please do.It makes you feel better knowing that you are helping save lives. If you can’t give, thanks for having tried. If you don’t know if you can, check with your doctor.

An update on new adoption, Echo. Two weeks today, she is adapting very well. One elder cat is still being snippy, but no fights or bites. Echo has learned she can sleep on my bed, and also, if I oversleep, how to crawl under the covers and lick my nose or chin. & with her long whiskers, that’ll get me awake quickly. She eats anything, apple crisp, sharp horseradishy bar cheese, bagels, croissants, just take your eyes off it for a couple of seconds, and she is sampling it. Cat food is no problem, she eats hers and the leftovers from the other 2. Real easy keeper, found the litter box in 15 minutes.. She is a real joy and treasure to have in the home. Now I just have to figure out just how much to feed her, don’t want to make her fat!!!!
