I shaved my cats this summer (thank goodness given the heat and humidity we’re experiencing), and I honestly think my two look pretty good that way… :D
SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED has put a postcard from the cat groomer on the mantle. I don’t think I’ll win this one. SHE says they look like lions. I want to put a red plastic nose on them.
Lewreader, have you ever actually read “She”? Just curious – I’ve been using the SWMBO term for years.
As for shaving, all my big dogs (collies and yellow labs) that I’ve had in the 17 years I’ve lived in Oklahoma always get a lion cut when the hot weather starts.
one of the comic collections i bought years ago was “Remembering Farley.” i hadn’t seen the strip in ages (didn’t get that paper any more) and hadn’t realized he’d been written out of it. one day i had the family over to visit and my little niece disappeared into my library because she wanted to “read about the doggie.” memories like this are why i return to this strip (and a few others on this site).
Lewreader & milano99, chuckle! I had always associated “SWMBO” with “Rumpole of the Bailey” books and BBC Series. Apparently I’m wrong in thinking that it originated there. I’ll have to look into ‘SHE’.
ses1066, I first saw her and heard the term on BBC. Since much of American tv is ripped off from British telly, I suspect it started across the puddle first and worked its way over here.
I love Farley’s happy, smiling face in the last panel. My dog’s face wears that expression too (although she’s not shaved and has a long curly tail instead of a short, stubby one).

Haven’t shaved my cats, but I can brush enough out of them to make another cat.

SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED was something Rumpole of the Bailey would utter when talking about his wife.
